Gender in sports has always been a hard issue to wrap my ahead around being a big sports fan. Splitting people into binary categories based on non-binary traits like sex and gender is impossible. No matter how you arbitrarily split the line, some will gain an advantage and others could be left uncompetitive. Which makes me think we need more than two categories. And while there aren’t resources or interest to make this happen to a level where there will be a category for all the billions of types of gender expressions, having 3-5 categories would still allow for a lot more people to get a fair shot at athletic competition than the current 2.
And maybe there could be things that address other genetic advantages like height. Give me a rec basketball where the heights capped at 5’8 lol.
