the first kind of tough one for me. obvious answer is Goose because they are the youngest, and while they are great they haven't proved their longevity yet.
i hate to vote Dead and Co but then again it's Dead and Co, not the Grateful Dead. I've enjoyed the times I've seen them live but I never throw on a Dead and Company show.
as i've stated in previous threads i also almost never listen to Panic anymore but I had some great times at their shows back in the day, and I think they are very good songwriters and also do a fantastic job of taking covers and making them their own.

then again i'm listening to the Goose show from 4848 festival right now and it's kind of crazy how fast they are progressing as a jamband. this show feels so relaxed and confident. my only complaint about their stuff from a couple years ago is they have that frenetic young person energy. not a bad thing but can act as a hindrance to deeper jamming.

I want a showdown between Phish and Dead Co. it’s almost a philosophical question: Is it better to have your classic lineup, but bloat your setlists with newer, shittier songs, or is it better to play classic setlists with newer, shittier musicians?
It’ll probably come down to which of the new things is in fact shittier, and I can’t wait for 3post1jack1 to try to pretend Blaze On and Party Time aren’t straight garbage.

happy to oblige.
it's funny you specifically mention Blaze On, i had a moment this past weekend during Blaze On when i was like "shit i love this band". felt like my heart was going to pop out of my chest. it a silly song but it's a rollicking number and the lyrics are clever and fun to sing. i, and apparently lots of other people in the crowd, get a big kick out of shouting "and when i screw up once i do it two more times".
party time is pure garbage, but it answers the question "what if porch song wasn't a good song".
having said that, i won't pretend the 3.0 songs are at the same level as the earlier stuff. but i think the following songs from 2009 on are legit good songs and generally loved by most of the fanbase: Mercury, Thread, Turtle in the Clouds, Say it to me SANTOS, Death Don't Hurt Very Long, Blaze On, No Men In No Man's Land, Fuego, Waiting All Night, and Martian Monster. not bad for an aging jamband. and that's not including any of the love and light and/or dad rock songs, which are not universally loved but I and many others enjoy a lot of them.
Does goose consider themselves a jam band? On another forum a poster said the guys referred to themselves as “indie rock with jammy tendencies”
They are a jamband. Have no idea what the consider themselves, but "jammy tendencies" to me means a little extra guitar solo live, not regularly jamming for 20+ minutes.
