Just got an email from support@seated.com announcing Haim will be appearing at Flushing Meadows Park on June 9. Looking at Google Earth, this appears to be a fantastic location- spacious, and located right at Long Island Railroad’s Mets-Willets Pt station and F line subway. Anyone been there?
Now all we need is a lineup more like those of 5-10 years ago…
Any other leaked names besides those? Probably not my thing again but if there is a solid 1 day lineup on the day Haim plays I might go since I missed their MSG show.
Same here - if the undercard for Haim day appeals then I might hit it, if it's not when my vacation falls (still mulling options). EDIT: Looking at all the leaked names, probably not, lol.
11/28 Raveonettes (Copenhagen, Denmark) 12/4 Interpol 12/14 LCD Soundsystem 12/31 Billy Joel 1/25 The Killers (Las Vegas) 2/12 Jack White 2/25 Father John Misty 3/6 Inhaler 4/10 Franz Ferdinand 4/17 Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds 5/15 Amyl & the Sniffers 5/18 Fontaines D.C. 9/1 Oasis
Got an email from Bandsintown saying it’s June 9-10. Down to a two day fest I guess.
I don't think that's accurate. If they were doing a 2-day fest, why would they do Friday and Saturday instead of Saturday and Sunday? They'd be more or less cutting a segment of the audience off from the first half of their first festival day.

iirc III Points is FS, and aren't most Euro fests TFS?

I went to the Paul Simon show there some years back - his 'last' show - or touring show I guess. It was great. Park was nice with a good setup. The train in and out (I went back to Manhattan) was easy.

Given the partial lineup leak and all the other big hitters releasing their lineups yesterday, I was totally expecting this to get announced today. Maybe next week?

Makes sense considering Coachella took over yesterday and has passes on sale today and Friday. Gov Ball looks nice based on the leak but no point in knowingly trying to compete with them and that lineup

Also, were there dates confirmed yet?
I think June 9-11.
I can't believe I'm excited about GovBall again, based on the leak.

I am very much trying to prepare myself for the inevitable blow that will be HAIM, Kendrick, Sylvan Esso, Rina, and Snail Mail being evenly distributed across the three days of the festival so that I have to either make a tough single-day choice or bite the bullet on a 3-day pass when I'm only interested (albeit very interested) in a smattering of the lineup.

Same bruh. But I’d take a decent 3 days for a small chunk or change over spending close to $1000 to go to ‘roo when all’s said and done.

Haim, SYlvan Esso, Rina and Snail Mail on the same day would be an excellent outting. I almost did it last year for Glass Animals, Japanese Breakfast, Clairo and Soccer Mommy BUTTTTTT...the overlapping set times made it really frustrating.

I also have a really weird feeling leaving a festival day before the headliner plays. I've done that twice at GovBall (Friday of 2019 and Friday of 2021), and it just feels super-anticlimactic, to me. That's why I'm hoping Kendrick's day has a good undercard - of the three headliners, he's the only that's a huge draw for me (I've seen Odesza multiple times, and while I like Lizzo and am sure she puts on a good show, it's not a move-the-needle booking for my personal tastes).

I dunno, as I get older it was actually nice to bounce from the Sat of Gov Ball in 2021 after Phoebe Bridgers played. Unless a headliner is someone I want to see, I've been to enough music festivals and gotten that rush. That being said, can totally understand your point as the headliner is usually when close to 90% of the entire crowd is there to see one act and experiencing the same level of euphoria.

Im with you...I loved that GovBall had counterprogramming for headliners before it became for a 16 - 21 year old demo

There’s something about tryin to “woo!” at a set while a 17 year old is throwing up from alcohol poisoning that sort of ruins the vibe for sure

Yeah, I miss that, too. My first My Morning Jacket show was at the Big Apple Stage as an alternative to Drake's headlining set on the Friday of 2015. Absolutely killer, and I was hyped to have the choice to see that. It was also nice to be able to see The Gaslight Anthem in 2018 rather than Travis Scott. The crowd for that show was tiny, but it was die-hard AF - one of the better crowd experiences I've had at this festival.
I was one of the few people who saw The Avett Brothers play opposite Kanye in 2013.
Smallest crowd I have ever been a part of was seeing James Blake playing opposite Jack White....weird counterprogramming when you look at the rest of the GovBall lineup that year and there are many many other acts that are aimed at the 16-21 demo and neither were chosen to be the opposite headliner
