Man, the Weeknd show in Chicago isnt close to sold out either so thats gonna drop that market down quite a bit. Prob put her on Thursday to get single day sales up. Live Nation wants a sellout one way or another.

tickets are so expensive for that show. Doja fans are probably thrilled they can just get a 1 day for Doja and get a full headlining set. Floor seats at soldier for this show are the price of a 4 day.
Metallica set the last time they played (15, 16? Can’t remember exactly) was one of the funnest shows I’ve ever been too. I had seen Metallica like 12 times before then, but went with my older sister who grew up in the 80’s and never seen them. They rocked her face off and it was amazing. Caught them at Soldier Field a year later and it was not as good, but I kind of blame the venue and our seats for that. Just let her know they look like they’ll be back.
Btw, Creeping Death to open their Bonnaroo 08 set was legendary.

If I wind up going to a day this year it will mark the 4th straight decade I've seen Metallica live. Just typing that confirms i'm unbelievably washed - so good job by C3 campaigning for my vote still.
Curious that they felt comfortable giving Metallica away a week in advance which means they clearly have bigger names in the bag.
Granted Dua Lipa or Billie Eilish are bigger names than Metallica in 2022, but still.
I wouldn't go too far down that hopeful road. We thought the same thing when they revealed the Foos in last year's teaser, and they wound up being the clear #1. I am still betting on a pretty big top 4, but not sure anyone will top Metallica.

Pretty much. But some people will be pissed they dropped $400 to begin with.
Interesting thing is that Florence and The Machine announced a uk arena tour for the fall this morning a day after the theatre shows were put onsale. Seems like she could do the same for the u.s. and drop it on tuesday along with a Lolla announcement.

I am very transparently far from hopeful or optimistic when it comes to this fest - I just thought it was curious. My expectations are still rock bottom.
Foos thing felt a little different and obviously extenuating circumstances given the pandemic and Lori Lightfoot pr rehabilitation campaign.

Apologies for sincerely engaging Supre, but is Florence still an arena level act in the US? Maybe I am out of the loop, but it feels like her relevance has been steadily shrinking over the past few years. Theater shows or some joint amphitheater tour feels like the right level -- and Lolla's current demo doesn't seem to align.

I feel like on her last US tour it was almost exclusively arenas and sheds. No idea how it sold, but the resale market was high enough for me to pass since I didn't like the album.
It wouldn't shock me if she can maintain a high profile just off the strength of her earlier albums. She pulled utterly massive crowds her last 2 times at Lolla. (Can also confirm firsthand that she was out drinking and chainsmoking until 3am at the Subterranean the night before her 2012 set.)

She's supposed to be playing at northerly island in september. should see an announcement at some point for that.

Yeah her first year at Lolla was insane. Set the standard for a non-headliner crowd until Posty came around a few years later. Can see her still drawing off her live reputation alone, was just curious as I haven't heard a song of hers break through to a larger audience in a while.
My darkhorse headliner here is Paramore (likely in the 5-8. They make more sense for Riot, but LN obviously understands their draw based on WWWY and I could see them headlining an MGK/Avril/Emo main stay day.
Once Journey got booked there is really nothing that can truly be ruled out.
If there was some madman at C3 who talked the team into booking the YYYs as a sub for Metallica then that means that their goal is trying to win my heart back instead of making money. If you see that one happen its a 100% bespoke booking for me to stop speaking ill of Lolla on Inforoo.

Its a totally fair question, I mean you gotta look at every option, right. As mentioned she did a mix of sheds and arenas in 2018. She headlined Outside Lands and Life Is Beautiful on that tour. It sold pretty well overall. The 2 La dates were pretty much sold out when she came around here. She would be good counter programming against Metallica for example if thats whats on the poster Tuesday morning. She still slays it with her live show which would draw a good crowd. And yeah, I dont think anything is truly off limits, like its wouldnt be a bad booking, it would surprise people and get em excited it wasnt totally cookie cutter for the top 8.
I’m the old side of Gen z and literally nobody my age talks much about Florence. Much more a millennial thing. I certainly don’t think Lolla would put her against Metallica, who attracts an even older crowd

Florence played arenas her last tour and would almost certainly be billed top 3-4 at Lolla. She's already headlined the festival before (with Metallica btw), has a new album coming out, and just because Gen Z folks don't talk bout her doesn't mean she's not relevant.
Probably 12k for Florence in this Seattle Key Arena 2018 photo. Saw a partial set with her a day before in Vancouver at a festival with about the same crowd size. Even her 1st Coachella set in a tent was a solid 7,000 and very tightly packed.
Not sure on 2022, but I do lean toward passable top billing. Endless discussions about females on festival lineups do move the needle more in her favor.
Did any more confirmations come out of the game besides the ones in the Reddit thread?
Unfortunately those are all of the artists in the game and the Lolla Frens Twitter Account told us in DMs that they do not plan on adding any extra names so we're all done until Tuesday unless someone can swoop in with some insider information before then.
Any last minute leftfield guesses? I said Paramore earlier but also think we're due for another nostalgia rap booking in a sub or afternoon slot.
Would love to finally see Wu-Tang at Lolla, especially if Kendrick is playing. Nas would be great too on account of his recent run of great records, but Luda or Nelly seem most likely.
