I mean you could also argue that in 2015 there really wasn't a whole lot for Metallica fans either; I remember that day on the south field it was DFA 1979/Tame Impala/Metallica which doesn't seem like a concerted effort to court Metallica fans.

Foo Fighters were #1 last year and drew fine. If they book a few rock bands on Metallica's day like they did with Foos and put someone for the kids like Lil Baby on the north stage everyones happy.

Acts like Metallica will do wonders for their premium sales (VIP/Platinum tix). Older fans and corporate sponsors wanting to show off or just have an higher end experience will shell out for those legacy acts.
