Hey, new guy here. Been lurking for awhile now. Great Site!
We're staying VIP. My wife was down in '05 and says we should be able to get in on Wed. night, but earlier in this thread someone said VIP will NOT open before the posted time. Can I get some clarification on that?

From what I understand you have to go to the secret location to pickup your swag, get bracelets, car decal and directions to VIP entrance. This doesn't open until 7/8am on Thursday so arriving earlier doesn't really seem to be a benifit unless you just want to chill in the lot.
I think that the temporary exit is where the 24 symbol is between the McMinnville and Hillsboro Blvd. exits....at that dirt spot right off the highway at the first I-24 symbol you see when the page loads.

Locals, is this right?
I'm not a local, but yes, this is right. It's confusing for first-timers because it's not an "exit" in the traditional sense but rather just a dirt/gravel road cut through the fence where, for a few days in June, you can turn directly off of I-24 into the farm. If you zoom way in on that map you can see it clearly.
I come in from M'boro (I-24E) and always get off at Exit 111 so I never knew this exit was there. I 've always come Thurs around 8AM and have gotten a decent site but maybe that's just luck. Since this temp exit is only available from I-24W I'm thinking this year I'll take back roads to exit 114 get on I-24W and take the temp exit. It seems the most likely way to get you a good site.

When does the temp exit usually open?
after re-examining my map from last year some, i know this is the way we went in last year and we definitely secured a pretty good campsite...we're seeing if we can duplicate the feat this year. as to the opening time, i have no idea but we got in line about 11:30 or 12pm on thursday.
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!

I've been trying to find the answer to this question throughout the boards to no avail, so here goes: My boyfriend and I are planning to arrive on Friday (I know, I know - his idea, not mine!). How far back in BFE will we be then? Are we going to be completely screwed? (We're not going tent only).
Thanks for everyone's help. . .this is such a great resource for a new 'rooer like me!!

I've heard people say that when they came in on Fridays they ended up with a good spot.
It's all a crap shoot. You get what you get. There's no way to know.

I think coming in on Friday will get you a good spot - those of us that choose to go in on Wednesdya night just take the chance and normally end up in BFE
So, for those of us who are planning on going tent-only, I'm assuming the best bet is just to get there Thursday morning, park wherever, and high-tail it to the tent-only area. Obviously where we get parked won't matter too much, but how fast does tent-only get picked over?

Hello all. Heading down from WI for my 3rd 'roo.
Both times I've been, we came in on 55 from the south early morning on Thursday. The first time (2004?), we got a great spot, right near the main gravel road coming in. This was before the new exit on I-24.
The second time, in 2005, we got stuck way the hell out. This I think was after they put in the new exit.
A couple of questions:
- I'll have my laptop with a Verizon card for Internet, so I can get online whilst still driving. Is anyone else reading this going to be doing the same? Up to the minute reports of where they are parking people might be extremely useful.
- The temporary exit (112?) is only accessible when coming in from the east, right? This seems like it might be the best place to go to have a good shot at a good campsite.
This google map should show the Bonnaroo site and I put a push-pin where I'm guessing this 112 exit is (I've never actually come through there, though, so just guessing!):
we were in line at around 9 am thursday... got off at exit 112.. ended up in dr. rumack near pod 6. amazing spot... we just kind of ignored where the parking people were directing us.
I'm curious.. how to avoid Bushy Branch Rd.. I'll be coming from Illinois, East on I-24..... I'm looking at a map, and I think I should take exit 114.. left at Hillsboro Blvd/US-41.. turn around and head back West on I-24.... Then get in through that Tollbooth on West Broadway..
..Whats the exit to that Tollbooth on West Broadway? (and are my map skills correct, is that the best route to getting in?)
The THP will be closing exits Thursday morning to direct traffic where they wish. It can be kind of iffy as to which exits they will let you off, especially 111 and 114. You may ahve to go further down and turn around or find backroads. Though the THP may interrupt these also.
It's kind of good to have a map and a couple plans. Or you can just follow police directions. Best to just keep a good and mellow vibe, expect a wait, and take it as it comes. No use getting frustrated and angry before you get to Roo!
