One of the best breakfasts I ever had was a brioche French toast made with a vanilla/caramel coffee creamer in place of milk, and of course the usual seasonings of cinnamon, vanilla, and maybe nutmeg mixed in. We start to enter dessert-for-breakfast territory when we make it a choc chip brioche and then put a slight spread of peanut butter and ok maybe a scoop of ice cream on the side, but honestly it's one of the best things I've ever tasted.
I had some French toast in Juno Alaska at a B&B we stayed at. Big thick homemade bread with powdered sugar and fresh sliced strawberries 🍓 on top. With a view of the Mendenhall glacier from the kitchen window. That’s the way to have French toast.
When I was maybe 8 or 9 years old on Mother's Day I really wanted to make a nice lil brekky for my mom. So I took out the cookbook I knew she used most frequently for breakfast foods and started working on the recipe I figured was the one she made for us often: "french pancakes." Little did I know that meant they were actually crepes (the traditional pancake recipe she always made was on a different page that I didn't see).
So I start worrying that I messed up the recipe when they're pouring so thinly into the pan and get sad because I think they're not going to be edible at all. Then my mom comes into the kitchen and is like "wow, you made CREPES?!" and thought I was the fanciest lil daughter.
That was my first time making, and eating, crepes. From there on I knew they were delicious and have enjoyed many a crepe since.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
