Would you have booked SZA as a headliner 6 months ago?
ACL in Oct had her 2nd on her day (although closing down a stage). But Flume and Kacey Musgraves had the same spot.
If booked recently, yes definitely a headliner.
She's definitely inbetween #1 and #2 on her day at Bonnaroo if she's playing.

I would be pretty surprised if Bonnaroo hung their hat on the pop punk resurgence solely on Paramore. That seems like the kind of thing where a one-two punch would go a long way. You pair them with MCR or Blink and it makes a lot more sense. Kendrick-Odesza-MCR is hot

Even 6 months ago SZA was close to a headliner. Top of her day at OSL, and 4th overall at ACL. With the release of her second album it’s silly to think she isn’t a headliner now.
I can throw in too that she’s doing bigger first-week numbers than Kendrick did as well, even having roughly the same album hiatus time.
The whole point is when the booking occurred.
All you're saying is that her tour and album is selling well. Which was unknown at point of booking.
You really think SZA (or label) would go back to Bonnaroo and be like "I'm bigger now, so I'll only play if I'm the headliner"?
Other way around too, no way that Bonnaroo is gonna bump her up because she's more popular now than at time of booking.
If someone decreases in popularity (expected sales are lower than expected), no one goes back to the artist they booked and give them a lower spot on the lineup.
This all ofc doesn't mean SZA won't headline. Just saying that it depends on when they booked the artist, not how profitable a tour/album is afterwards.
