Now that I have a child the fact that the governments of Florida and to a lesser extent Ohio are working their hardest to destroy public education and make simply existing less safe for every kid (and person, let’s be honest) who isn’t a straight white Christian holds a lot more weight to me than whether the weather is nice at a given time of year or what shows come to town.
Of course, living in Madison Wisconsin we have to deal with some of that as well, but at least our governor can block the truly shitty stuff.
I would argue that extreme Northeast PA is part of the Midwest. Shit, all the way up to Buffalo. Buffalo is more culturally and geographically Midwest than it is any other region.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?

Miami > Tampa > Orlando >>>>>>>>>> Jacksonville (where the bridges are the only interesting thing in town)
At least you’re not Pensacola though
I go back and forth on Miami. It has way more cool shit, obviously. But Miami is a city where everyone stares at themselves in the mirror for 2 hours before stepping outside and Jax is just a bunch of nice people that don't give a fuck. I lived in Orlando for six years... I liked it a lot. It's marginally better than Jax because I actually don't care about the beach as much as I'm letting on If you do like the beach and hate touristy shit, Jax is better. I have a skewed perspective on Jax because I work for the most fun property in the city by a wide margin. I don't mind hearing that its the worst of the 4 at all, but it's closer to the pack than that.
Fair points. My main gripe with Jax has always been that for such a huge city at such a prime geographical spot it is so void of signifcant culture and things to do.

What are you talking about we have... golf and the beach!!!
But yes you are right. I've come to prioritize everyday lifestyle over major once a month events or whatever, but that's a huge and obvious problem with Jax. I'm excited to be employed by the dude that is working to change that.
It’s a case by case basis for sure on the political landscape of a region, but coming from the Midwest to Denver, the discussions I have with new people I meet are (anecdotally) far less political in Denver and I feel like I’m able to connect with people better because of it. Just kind of an interesting thing I realized the other day. Like, I never realized how much standing for the national anthem or other right wing things would just come up in the first 10-15 min of meeting someone until it stopped happening and I came back to MO and got inundated with it
I'm Team Don't Engage With The Crazies Who Think Florida Is Elite but we should mention that the state is annually at risk from hurricanes and that it is in the process of being engulfed by the ocean.

I’m not team Florida is the best state or anything, but it’s certainly better than most. People that rank Florida as one of the worst are much further from reality than Florida stans.
