The ticket fee revenue dispute between Coffee County and Manchester continues. I think the threat to move the festival still lacks credibility given the continued buildout of the farm, but I guess crazier things have happened. Easy to threaten, much harder to execute.
I'm heading up to Manchester with the wife on Saturday, I'm going to have lunch with a few people in town and will probably learn a little more on this.
But yeah, it's more or less an empty threat. LiveNation has dumped a lot of money into the site already and are continuing to right now. A lot of infrastructure projects are already underway ahead of this year that are meant to last for years to come. They're also planning more Concerts on the Farm events, and are toying around with planning different types of smaller genre-specific festivals kind of like Exit 111 did.
Just to entertain the notion, where in the heck would you put it in Nashville anyways? It can't be anywhere near the middle of town because not only is there not the space, but you'd be dealing with some awful combination of noise ordinances and curfew cutoffs. Even in a space just outside of town, you're just going to be dealing with another municipality who will want their share. Plus there's no existing infrastructure and you won't own the land anyways. And that's not even considering the traffic issues because it likely won't be next to an interstate like the Farm already is. The whole idea of even threatening it is just dumb.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?

I was really thrilled with last year's Bonnaroo lineup and I'm pretty excited for this one, too - totally different reasons, though. As someone who loves/plays House, Tech-house, and electronic music in general here are the acts I'm excited for:
Pigeons Playing Ping Pong Lane 8 Disclosure Flume Chris Lorenzo Sidepiece Westend J. Worra CloZee John Summit VNSSA G Jones Dombresky
I guess the only drawback is that I've seen the majority of these artist before. Anyone else excited about the amount of electronic music on the line-up?

Why did I think Pigeons Playing Ping Pong were a traditional jam band?

I think of them more as jamtronic but I'm not the right person to try to subdivide jam band genres

Gotta add LP Giobbi and Nora En Pure to this list too

They are. And they rule live though some have judged them based on covers. Musicianship is great, and they are fun.
I am not thrilled with the electronic lineup and will be at The Other probably the least amount of time I ever have been since they started that stage in place of a tent. Only shows I'm most likely or somewhat likely to see are G. Jones, CloZee, Rebillet, Moore Kismet, Wreckno and Of the Trees. I still need to check out more of Said the Sky to make a determination on that. And obviously once the schedule comes out, I'll check out some of the bottom wrung stuff I don't know wherever I have gaps.
Lots of big(ger) shit I won't be at this year as usual - Gryffin, Porter, Rezz, Illenium, Flume (though it's possible I would go to a piece of that set), $uicideboy$, LANY, Machine Gun Kelly...

never seen G.Jones but met some people at Buku 2019 who came all the way from LA just to see him so i've always wanted to. the videos from this recent tour have been insane so definitely on my list
i saw Said the Sky at Lights All Night 2019 and it was a solid set. just some good melodic EDM stuff and he even brought out someone to do some live instrumentation on a few songs i believe; i dont listen to this stuff much but id be tempted to catch the set again
It seems to me like in the last year or two, EDM trends have leaned heavily back into House. More than half of the lineup at Okee was stuff like that, Disclosure being billed so highly at Roo seems to be a bit of a recognition to that too.
It's kind of fun for me because that's the kind of stuff I like to listen to and play with when I'm mixing, but I can see how it's leaving all of the dubstep or glitchy people behind.
Esteban still go see Flume but the rest of that list of no sees is the same with me but I still have a lot of value on the lineup. I know you dig the bass and that is totally missing more this year than others but I’m not mad at a change of pace. I haven’t spent much time at the other except on Thursdays the past few years but I bet I’ll be over there more than usual. Friday lineup for the other looks like the most fun for me.

gotta add the Channel Tres dj set. still not entirely clear on how they're doing these campground sets, are the big names really going to fit at Where in the Woods?

I think I read that WITW was getting upgraded to accommodate more people for this year! The big names are already confirmed for this area on the Roo website:
"A disco ball UFO has emergency landed on earth, and mysterious dancing aliens have emerged. They've teamed up with Thousand Deep to build an enchanted disco forest and soon enough, Bonnaroovians discover it… Nightly performances feature NGHTMRE, Channel Tres, Dillon Francis and Jauz – Into the Deep"
Some of the Plazas are going to be better equipped for shows this year, they're running some pretty good PA equipment and smaller stages out to many of them. Unless anything falls apart, they're letting us use much of the setup at the Groop Plaza for Flipturn and the DJ stuff.

Definitely go check out G. Jones' set! He did a b2b with EPROM and it's one of my all time favorite sets. His solo sets are amazing - especially if you like bass music.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions - added all of them to my Bonnaroo electronic play list

It’s probably been 5 or 6 years since I’ve seen Flume. I figure the show should be decent but what does it conflict with late on Saturday? If it’s Pigeons or Rebillet, I’m going to those shows. If it’s Ludacris I could split. I’m not worried about the rest so much. I’m assuming Coachella will show some or all of his set. And while I doubt it will be exactly the same between the festivals, that might be a decent indication.
