What other festival is Tool playing this year? Also if you think Tool is butt rock of any kind you're in for quite a surprise come Saturday night when they open a new dimension. Their set will be one of the best in Roo history.
i don’t think tool is butt rock but they played 5 American butt rock festivals between 2018-2019
And they’ve been extensively touring. They’re cool but it’s not like some big deal booking
There’s a whole section for all the festivals they play on Wikipedia
I'm starting to get kind of excited about 2016 level attendance. We basically rolled right in through Bushy Branch Road with no wait in line at all that year. I remember me and a buddy wandered out way right up to the rail for LCD System and had no problem going over to get close for Tame right after either.
It's bad for business certainly, but it makes for a great experience that attendees will be talking about for years.
Also I wonder if the cancellation fallout with the artists is responsible for the weaker lineup - if Live Nation was super stingy with them that could explain how almost no high billed acts returned, despite a ton of crossover between 2020/2021 and a ton of crossover between Coach 2020/2022.

I think by the time the 2021 fest got canceled they probably had most of 2022 booked already
That’s why returning acts are the super small names and King Gizzard (who dropped out before the fest happened)

I care about the overall lineup and if that means a good lineup with zero headliners I care about than so be it (happens a lot with lineups I like actually)
Nothing to learn. If Nickelback is butt rock then Tool can also not be butt rock by default. I just don't think one of the most psychedelic rock bands in history is anything remotely close to said butt rock.
If a quarter pounder is a burger than an animal-style double-double can also not be a burger by default.
I'm pretty sure animal-style double-doubles are only done in porn.
I talked to Rick Farman earlier today for our podcast, he's a fun dude. I didn't press him for Live Nation gossip or anything, but it was fun to learn that the biggest turning point ever for Roo itself was when him and others went to Burning Man. Before we started recording I told him I was going this year and we both nerded out over stuff like that.
The episode should be up on Spotify in a few, we had some incredibly great finalists for our ticket giveaway too.

Say what you will about The Chicks but it was *very cathartic* to go angry running in the rain this morning while listening to Gaslighter and picturing Brett Kavanaugh crying. I can’t wait to see what protest moves they pull at Roo.

You are aware this is the second time Tool will play ‘Roo, right?
And the most “mind-blowin’” thing they did, in my opinion, was bring out Tom Morello towards the end fer a song. I’d look it up, but everyone here knows my opinion of Tool.
And as has been pointed out, sure Bonnaroo may be the only festival they play this year. But they have done several others in the last two years where you could tour, and have toured quite extensively in support of their latest album. So this is not very exclusive; most people that really wanted to see Tool already have.
Hope you have fun at their show on The What, but I’ll likely be gettin’ ready fer the late-night sets!

Tell me you don't like Tool without saying I don't like Tool.

More like tell me you don’t like Tool for like the 1,000th time.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?
