Thought I'd get this thread going with news of vaccine card or negative test required to attend official events. Still set to happen barring some disaster like 2020. Not sure how vax/test will work with so many events but godspeed for them trying.
All credentialed SXSW participants will be required to provide proof of vaccination against Covid-19 (or a recent negative Covid-19 test) in order to collect and maintain their credentials. This policy remains subject to applicable laws and public health guidance. We will have more information soon as our policy evolves with specifics regarding testing, masking and social distancing.

I've been expecting a lower key SXSW this year but I also wouldn't be surprised if they dropped a bunch of bigger names between now and the festival. The city permit list should be released fairly soon which should give us a better idea of what is happening during the festival.

I hoping to hit up one, possibly two of the day parties this year. (just moved to the area in Nov.) Is the game plan in years past to choose the ones your interested in, show up a few hours early to get in line, then hope to get in?

Most day parties don’t have significant lines earlier in the day.

I would pick a day at Mohawk or hotel Vegas or something to spend the day in since I wasn’t buying a badge and I could walk in 20 minutes before the event started. Couple that with a significantly scaled down sxsw this year and you’ll be fine. I found really cool stuff to go to in the past on Reddit and do512. Saw justice on dirty. White denim at their studio in east austin

I definitely think crowds will be smaller. Especially for the tech parts. Since most of the music events(especially unofficial stuff) don't get announced until pretty last minute it is difficult to judge what that will be like. I never get excited for international acts anyway since it is such a crapshoot whether they actually make it.

Cool, thanks for the info. I started following a bunch of accounts on twitter to see what parties might get announced as well. Finding something like a Justice show is a goal of mine.
video feed trailer I got was KC at 50, SXSW 2022 Film Festival. I was bugging since I couldn’t go to Atlanta late July because I had to move back to Louisiana. A buddy of mine who went said he busted out crying a couple times knowing that was the last time (only time?) for him to ever see Islands get played live. But it’s a film instead of one last show. :/
I didn't realize there was a class action suit by 2020 badge holders I'm sure that has something to do with it
The way they handled the cancellation in 2020 really pissed some people off and I'm sure a lot of those people will stay away in the future. They've been holding on to my money since January of 2020 but I only bought a wristband so definitely not as big of a deal as a badge. At least they granted me access to a couple days of the virtual SXSW last year. lol
