Alright, I gave Dave the Stormzy Outdoor slot, and put JID in the Sahara.
This makes a lot of sense
Skepta in the Sahara kinda sucked in 2017, while Stormzy's outdoor set looked great
Looking at Saturday, its such a meh day for me
Hoping some of those sunday or friday acts get pushed to Sat
Vnssa>Some Giveon>Some Stromae>Flume>Some Danny Elfman/Do Lab>Dislosure/Do Lab
Maybe listen to some Billie, depends who is the Saturday Dolab guest
Anyone I should check out that day? May give Hot Chip a listen
What do you like on Friday? Hot Chip and Caribou are both great live acts. It translates so much better than their studio recordings.
I take it you’re not really a fan of anything with a guitar, but several decent female led indie acts on this day. (Nilfur, Japanese Breakfast, and Arlo Parks are all great live) Arlo especially.]
Finally see Rina Sawayama. Reminds me of Lady Gaga and the live show looks great!
Happy to point you to some other stuff. I think this day in particular is very deep with talent.

Does anybody else here think Elfman could be main before Megan Thee Stallion? I thought I remember reading an article last summer and him specifically mentioning visiting Coachella in 2019 and the size of the screens (assuming Main stage) inspired him to want to play. He seems like a great act to be playing the Main right around sunset.
Additionally, I believe he had Billie Ellish guest with him in 2021 when he played some shows in LA. This seems like a possibility for Coachella if he didn’t close the Outdoor. Something to consider.

Elfman makes more sense on the Outdoor like Hans Zimmer was in 2017. That being said, I don't think he'll close that stage, just like Hans didn't. I think he'll be one slot earlier (swapped with Stromae like braundiggity mentioned makes sense). That'd give Billie plenty of time to hop over there for a guest appearance without having to rush over to the main before her headlining set.

FWIW I don’t see Billie doing a guest appearance with Elfman unless someone can name an example of a headliner making an appearance before their own set. I don’t think it’s happened before; they’re too busy getting ready for their own show and it’s better for them to build up anticipation. Would be cool if she came out with Elfman though!

Switching Dave and Kream was a good move. Maxo will probably be earlier though. I do think there’s too much hip-hop in the Sahara that day. I think they either have Staples or Curry, but not both. Michael Bibi could probably go in there. Not sure if Kim Petras’ new music will change the mood but always pictured her in the dark. Her last tour basically called for it.
Coachella loaded hiphop in the Sahara in 2019 so it's possible. They had Playboy Carti, YG, and "Gucci Gang" all in a row on Sunday. They had SOBxRBE in the Sahara that day too, so off the top of my head they had at least 4 hipop acts in a 5 act span that day.
mikey1313 I want to make my own mock just for fun, is it ok if I use your mock as a reference for times and for the Yuma artists (because that's where I'm least familiar)?

+10000 to Hot Chip and Caribou. Have seen both live multiple times (including Coachella) and it is always such a highlight. Videos below:
Mikey - I know beabadoobee was confirmed for Sonora in 2020, and I totally 100% get defaulting to acts who were in that tent last time, but as I explored the lineup I noticed she has a collaboration song that has over 1,000,000,000 plays, and several solo songs that are in the 40,000,000-90,000,000 play range - certainly she's too big for the Sonora this time around no?
Also, Surf Curse has a song with 365,000,000 plays.
Maybe I am off and there were acts with huge streaming numbers who have played the tent in the past - this genre is not my forte - but those stood out to me on Sunday. Not sure who would be moved in if some of those acts play larger tents.

Wow yeah that is a ton of plays. I'm fine with moving her out on the next round of edits, but does anyone remember how many plays Kero Kero Bonito had on Flamingo when they played the Sonora?
We can also move Surf Curse out if we think that's the best idea. Who do we put in the Sonora to replace Bea and Surf Curse?

I was looking at this the other day and Beabadoobee, Girl In Red, and Beach Bunny have blown up since the original 2020 release. I’d recommend we switch a couple people around.
Nilfur back to Sonora and Beach Bunny out Molchat in Sonora with Beabadoobee out Move the Regrettes out of the Sonora since they weren’t on the original Sonora lineup.

Girl in Red is forsuuuuure getting moved out.
I can make these changes. Good point about the Regrettes.

Flamingo currently has 62,000,000 plays - not sure how many plays that song had in 2019 but still a far cry from Surf Curse and beabadoobee's top numbers.
Hopefully we will get the Sonora confirmation post at some point because some of these acts have definitely graduated to the "very well attended tent" stage of their careers. A little different than Yuma where I think you can pretty accurately rely on the 2020 confirmations in way more cases as if those acts blow up, they just play later and that tent can already hold extremely popular techno and house acts.

they are a bit big for it maybe but turnstile closing the sonora possibly? probably not but just a thought
And man - that Hot Chip live video - the singer's voice drives me crazy (he sounds like a male Madonna to me, don't know why I have that reaction every time) but holy fuck do they always deliver live. I know they were promised an outdoor sunset slot (thinking Gorgon City placement?) and that's a big honor to them, but they would crush it in a late night tent slot where the crowd wouldn't feel as sparse - then again I thought Gorgon City was going to draw flies and that crowd was enormous.

Outdoor ending Hot Chip - Danny Elfman - Stromae sounds tasty to me.
