If he's playing Prima that gives me some optimism that he'll be at Prima LA next year instead of Coachella. But if he plays Coachella, I'll 100% avoid it. It'll be really interesting to see what the reaction is when he does get booked for a US fest.
People not going/news outlet: THIS IS TERRIBLE AND A DEATH TRAP People going that aren’t Travis fans: HELL NO I’ll be at (insert 2nd stage) People going that are Travis fans: This is going to be great
Festival ends with no deaths and very little minds changed.
Guys, Travis played hundreds of shows that didn’t result in death. There’s clearly more at play than just Travis Scott fans.
deaths aside, both fests ive gone to that were headlined by Travis attracted particularly bad crowds for that day. my ex and I almost suffocated waiting for him at boston calling, that shit hasnt happened for any other headliner ive seen
They need to add him to Primavera LA so it sells more than 60 tickets.
I'm wondering when those adds are going to happen because $464 for that lineup is insanity.
Figured it would be now with Coachella over and done with if they had some acts on there. Considering all the people who bought the cheap passes for Coachella a couple weeks who, how does Prima even hold a candle on value with what anyone just experienced.

Absolutely. The problem he has is that it was HIS festival where it happened; if it'd happened at any other random LiveNation show he'd still get (fairly) blamed for being unresponsive to what was happening in the crowd but it wouldn't be as bad.
Travis is not an event producer. He probably had minimal involvement in any production

Now you sound like a travis apologist that is using the ignorance card. "Build me a fucking mountain with a portal to the 6th dimension on it" does not equate zero involvement in production.
Travis did not have anything to do with the clear issues regarding security, crowd funneling design, etc and you can chalk that up to a combo of LN and local promoters.
Travis does, however, have an incredibly clear history of encouraging dangerous behavior at shows, encouraged fans to shove a fan off a balcony that ended up paralyzing him, has posted photos of passed out fans at his concerts on Instagram, he's been charged with inciting a riot at least once and arrested for encouraging dangerous crowd behavior multiple times, has actively encouraged fans on Twitter to jump gates for his shows and overcrowd venues past capacity limits, and was clearly aware of an ambulance in the Astroworld crowd, as well as saw a passed out fan lifted up from the front row at Astroworld, and did not stop the show and kept it going.
Go through all the other rap, metal, and punk acts who are known for their mosh pits and you will not find the clear paper trail of disregarding fan safety that Travis has. I can't think of a single act that has been so happy about the fact that his shows are dangerous.
He wanted this atmosphere and it’s all good until it isn’t. he wasn't responsible for the issues with security and design, but few if any other rap acts would have a long standing, years long culture of inciting dangerous crowd behavior that would cause deaths in that environment either.
I don't understand caping for this man because he doesn't give a fuck about fan safety. He never has. So many other rap acts who are also known for rowdy shows do, but he doesn't.

and again, lets not forget the people dying in front of him and screaming for help as he did the robot. livenation absolutely shares some of the blame no question. but to act like travis has zero responsibility is insulting to the victims and their families

we’re all still going to livenation shows and festivals
i’m not saying i wont go to a fest with him headlining or not go to a LN show. Live music is a near monopoly and touring artists need to make money. main point is just that it seems like too soon of a return for him after such a deadly event

I'll continue hanging out on my limb with Rage, ODESZA, Frank as the headliners. Fully expecting Rage and Frank. ODESZA's close to selling out two nights at Shoreline in the Bay Area, which is 45,000 tickets, and might add a third once the second is finished selling out. I get that they might not be as big everywhere in the country, but that's still massive.
I wonder if Fred Again gets the Disclosure '13/'14 treatment and bumped up to second line with an outdoor closing set.
And then I wonder how many 2020 acts that didn't get retained for 2022 end up on the 2023 lineup -- I could see Twigs, Thom (The Smile), Uzi, Charli XCX, and Lana all on the 2nd line, and I think Rex Orange County and Marina could get booked but might need to get dropped to the third.

Correct.
But would Kendrick, Carti, Cole, Kanye, Drake, Gucci, Future, Meg, Lil Baby, or literally any other huge rapper have had even a single fan die in that same venue? I would bet any money I had the answer is "no". I would also bet each one of them would have at least checked in with their people upon seeing that ambulance come through the crowd, or seeing a potentially lifeless body lifted out of the front row. Travis has been actively encouraging increasingly aggressive crowd behavior for *years* now and it caught up with him.

Odesza was the most talked about artist W1 and they weren't even on the bill. They'd be a slam dunk headliner imo
I do not think his crowd at Coachella would be dangerous. Coachella crowds, especially at the main stage, very rarely get rowdy. Festivals like Astroworld, Flog, Rolling Loud are going to be more rowdy because of their niche. Almost everyone would be there for Travis. Wouldn't be the case at Coachella, it's too eclectic and Travis' music doesn't have crossover appeal like Kanye.
For example BROCKHAMPTON's crowds at Flog Gnaw vs their crowds at Coachella? Their Flog crowds were actually dangerous and just as bad, if not slightly worse than any Travis set I've been to. While their Coachella crowds were active but not suffocating or nearly as moshy (moreso jumping around).
I personally wouldn't be at the Travis set but I do not think anyone would get seriously hurt at his Coachella set if it happens. I'm sure they'd have excellent counter programming for those who don't want to be near his performance. I don't think he'll actually be booked though.

Keep yelling at the clouds old man. I’m going sicko mode 😎

I feel like Lana wouldn't accept the sub placement anymore. Since she's dropped two albums since then, I feel like she'd demand headliner or bust I thought Marina's album did well last year? I could see her at the end of the 2nd again, and Rex is playing pretty large venues on his tour, still 2nd but towards the back maybe? I'm banking on PDM coming back next year and getting a prime Sahara placement. From 2020 I really want FKA Twigs, Charli XCX, Hatsune Miku back
I honestly think the bigger question re: Travis is insurance. I am surprised he got those South American gigs as I thought he'd be virtually uninsurable for the time being.
Anyways RATM * Frank * ODESZA is a good shout but I don't know...still feels a little niche compared to 17/18/22 but I suppose it's still way more broader appeal than Tame/Gambino/Ari and does a good job of genre balancing.
I do think that if they could manage it, having ODESZA closing the main after another 4th headliner would be the best way to go but depends on what ODESZA is willing to accept.
RATM * Frank * Bad Bunny * ODESZA - that is a ticket mover across four big genres and with enough direct support for each of those acts spread out on other days (Deftones & who knows anymore LOL, Paak & SZA, Rosalia & Becky G, and Rufus & Porter on the second line) I think you have a big big big winner. Throw in a couple current rappers and Glass Animals and Rezz on top of that and I think that lineup really moves. I probably have too many subs in that list but you get the idea.

Lana could, and should, definitely be a headliner going forward. And for better or worse, I think the days of Coachella not having at least one female headliner are probably over. Or at least few and far between.
Damn we’re two days out from the end of the fest and we’re already recycling the Travis conversation? Y’all need fresh air

Saved you a lot of time. Reddit will be the same as the above but with more references to Moderat and stories about crying at Porter Robinson and now Fred Again as well

Lana's dropped two albums since but they're her worst performing (I believe they're her only albums that haven't had at least one song with 100m listens on spotify; Blue Bannisters doesn't have anything over 55m). No chance she's a headliner now IMO.
They are not and never will be a headliner at Coachella. I don't care how many tickets they move or what line they were on last time. 5m monthly Spotify listens, compared to 20m for Swedish House Mafia.
Kygo has 28m monthly listeners and has sold way more tickets than Odesza in the past 3 years, in more diverse venues, is Kygo a Coachella headliner? Because Kygo's case is a lot better by the numbers.

I think Rage, Frank, and Odesza represent probably the most in demand gets for their respective genres, and yeah - add Bad Bunny to that and you truly have something for everyone. There would not be many people attending the festival that year who don't want to see any of the headliners.
