Awesome seeing both South Dakota State and North Dakota State advance to the FCS Championship. Pretty crazy the amount of success each program has had since become D1 eligible in 2008. First time they’ll play in the championship game against each other.
And if nothing else, they have two of the best mascot names. jackrabbits and bison
it’ll be cool to see them play, but damn it’s unfortunate that they both have to make that trek all the way to Frisco just to play each other lol
I probably worded that poorly. They play each other every season and have been since like 1903. They’ve played each other 4 times in the FCS playoffs but never in the championship game; NDSU has bounced SDSU in all those playoff matches on their way to their over decades long FCS domination.

oh no, i knew what you meant lol i was specifically just saying how funny it is that they have to travel that far to play each other in general

I’ve already seen a lot of Facebook friends planning and organizing so there should be a decent attendance. Plenty of people will take the opportunity to catch some warmer weather. Although, if the game were at US Bank in the Twin Cities, it’d be a sellout.

it’ll sell out for sure. i went to the FCS natty in 2016 for NDSU/Jacksonville St. bc my cousin played for JSU, and it was 90% NDSU fans despite the drive being twice as long for them. they were all parked in RVs at the stadium tailgating all night long before 11am kickoff, and it was as an incredible atmosphere. if i’m not mistaken, NDSU fans had an app similar to Waze that would display your location if you wanted to, and there were screenshots from it of the whole path from ND to Texas was filled with people driving down.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there is traffic on the path down because so many of them will be coming. it’s gonna be awesome.

That’s cool. There will definitely be traffic because it’s the exact route for both schools since they are both directly on I-29.
Dakota fans are especially rabid college sports fans because both states don’t have any professional sports teams and they didn’t have any full D1 programs until 2008. The Summit League, which both schools are a part of, has their conference basketball tourneys in Sioux Falls, SD and it’s literally one of the biggest ticket sellers in all of D1 conference tourneys. The NCAAs have even been hosting a lot of events in SoDak recently because they all sell extremely well.

I wish I'd stop seeing articles hyping that Tennessee signed their first 5 start QB since 2002 because that five star did not turn out well. Started one game at QB due to the starter being injured. Was transitioning to WR and ended up being dismissed from the team after his second year. Not exactly the stuff of legends.
Dabo bringing the cringe. Makes me wonder the appeal of Clemson.
The kids he gets love it.
And if they didn’t I’m sure the power dynamics are such at Clemson that the kids would be more than comfortable expressing their discomfort with forced prayer on the team

If any of them have a problem with it they never say it. They know when they come to Clemson what Dabo is about. If they don’t like it they go play somewhere else. It’s not really a big deal.
Ya, it’s okay to say the highest paid public employee in SC shouldn’t force his religious views on the people who work for him (largely unpaid)
I’d agree with you if it was really forced. It’s part of the way recruit. The kids know exactly what they’re getting into. For a lot of them it’s the reason they come to Clemson.

Probably better Clemson than something like Liberty, if that's the case
"if you don't like God, there's the door." Dabo said in the living room of a teenager.
And I'm sure nothing about Clemson being a top tier school with excellent facilities, a recent history of high draft picks, a slew of televised games, and donors with deep pockets has nothing to do with the decision. Just their love of the lord.
Also, I enjoy that he's talking about building the program with God in mind while their most noticeable and recognizable alum is arguably Deshaun Watson.

If you watch close enough. like I do, you’ll notice the ones that aren’t really down with it. He’ll say they just weren’t a fit for Clemson. They definitely go after a certain type of kid. Another thing that shows it is following players on Twitter. This is the kind of thing they post regularly.

So what you're saying is a state employee at a public institution creates a culture where student-athletes either buy into a strong religious element to a school athletic team or they're run out of the school with the coach publicly saying they didn't "fit"? Sounds totally legit and not at all what Delicious Meatball Sub was talking about earlier.

No, I was talking about kids they recruit that don’t come.
OrSt QB's were nothing special this year. Gebbia got hurt. Nolan ended up sitting, and entered the portal. Gulbranson was serviceable, but wasn't asked to do a ton either.
If DJ shows some level of potential he had going into Clemson - the Beavs have a chance of being a top 10 team. This year they're already 10-3 and in the top 15, with meh QB play.
