This really reinforces the notion that this is just a down year for festivals.
Seems like it, at least for America. I thought the 2016 Movement lineup was the weakest they had, but I'd argue this exceeds that. At least 2016 had Caribou, Four Tet and The Black Madonna.
Another festival making that “terrible” Coachella lineup look not that bad.
I'm shocked Coachella snagged Detroit Love with Craig, Kyle Hall and Moodymann, yet that's missing from this lineup. Hell, surprised Movement also missed out on Yaeji, The Black Madonna, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Black Coffee, Omar-S, Peggy Gou, Michael Mayer, etc.

Figured they’d at least get Soulwax?
I wasn't expecting them, but it's a bummer they aren't here either.
Wutang........Diplo........Too Short..... what the hell is going on with US fests this year. I get that the pool of artists to choose from may be down this year but yikes. Couldn't make it this year anyways but ouch.
I'd bring up a simple point, but I know many won't agree with it. Probably could have a little to do with timing of the year, payouts, etc., but.....
3 initials - D J T
Maybe? Also, location (state) of fests maybe?
lol
well I tried (lol)
my obvious observation has always been audience - fests here cater (used to, I've seen that dip this year) to that college money w EDM, while over there, the audience seems to have more of an appreciation for getting down to good flows of all genres, at least my take of a solid dj set.
I'll always prefer selection and flow over skill, but I've always noticed those differences in taste. Of course, it has to do with what is chosen for mainstream promotion as well.

well those headliners are a kick in the groin.
but on an initial pass, i see phase, Anthony Parasole, Avalon Emerson, Charlotte de Witte, Dubfire, Helena Hauff, Laurent Garnier, Maceo Plex, Marcel Dettmann, Nina Kraviz, Phuture, and Eris Drew as acts i'm excited to see. i'm sure there will be more as I do some research.
still, wish there was some headliner talent that really grabbed me.

Man, first year in a while that I have no interest in returning to Detroit for Movement.
I mean, there's definitely some good names in the undercard, but shit, those headliners just punch you right in the dick when you look at that lineup. Then you scroll through the undercard and see Diplo, Mija, Rezz, and feel an unlubed fist penetrate your asshole.

I love Wu-Tang. I love them live. There is no need to have them headlining Detroit's electronic festival though. And then to have Claude who you can see a dozen times here for cheap between all of his projects. I don't think this lineup makes anyone happy. I will be going anyway though since I live here.

I just realized that Modeselektor headlined in 2016 with Claude on the undercard, while this year Claude is headlining while Modeselektor is on the undercard. Huh?

Yea I feel like they could replace CVS and Loco Dice b2b Martinez Brothers with Dubfire and Modeselektor on the top line and it would make the lineup much more easier to swallow.
Loco Dice and Martinez Brothers are literally the top 2 most overrated techno acts out there right now imo. I can't stand their sets.
