Eli from Soul Clap said LTJ Bukem, Frankie Bones, Tony Humphries, Dam-Funk, Punisher, and Dan Bain were participating at the E-Funk party this year (could be more - maybe Amp?). Announcement tomorrow, I believe.
Also, I won a pass today. It hasn't sunk in yet. I'm already eyeing that Ghostly opener/party.
I love Hito. Her style and track selection is incredible, but as a DJ she does have a tendency to trainwreck transitions.
Like here, she's mixing vinyl on a MODEL 1, which is cool, but totally unnecessary. The result is jarring at times (17:00 sticks out, there's a moment between 9:00 and 10:00 as well). Still the tracklist is just so great it saves the set.

ha, i hear you on that one right after 17:00, that was a bit jarring. not totally show stopping though, i've heard worse from good DJs on digital rigs.
what i like about the mixes i've heard from Hito is the tonal warmth of her recordings. always a nice big, full beat in her mixes, very midrangey and midbassy.

Yeah that's a good point. It's definitely not show stopping, perhaps I'm being a bit too critical as that's something that might not even register if I'm on the dance floor. Plus I'll add that apparently Hawtin got all the DJs pretty drunk that night. If you check out Ellen Allien from that same show it's obvious shes a little schwasty at the time.
Anyway I agree a lot about Hito. She's in my schedule permitting tier of artists. TBH most of the festival falls in that category for me (in a good way). I'd like to see everyone, but it's tough to prioritize beyond like a top 5. That said who is everyone's too early top 5?
That's not totally fair. Wasn't familiar with Beyond Wonderland but glancing at the lineup it looks like mostly EDM and a little techhouse.
Moudaber/Dubfire may be mainstage techno but it's still techno.
I'm half joking but it's just that Insomniac books Moudaber/Jamie Jones/Dubfire/Liebing for pretty much every event they have at this point so whenever I see those names on lineups I just think "hell no" because they literally play SoCal every 3 days

Gotcha.
And to your point, while I like Moudaber/Dubfire I'll be elsewhere that night, assuming I can physically handle it at that point. Too many other good options.

Yeah it's not like they're unbearable or anything it's just like why close out the weekend with them when there are loads of better options as we've seen.
1. Helen Hauff 2. Carlos Souffront b2b Bill Converse 3. Ø [Phase] 4. Laurent Garnier 5. Steve Bicknell 6. DJ Stingray
but in reality i anticipate i'll be underground 70% of the time and wandering around 30% of the time. Probably won't spend a ton of time at the mainstage but one nice thing about Underground is it's super easy to stroll to the mainstage to catch a bit of an act, so I'll probably catch some of Capriati, Dubfire, etc.
one interesting tidbit about the Ford sponsorship:
Tim Price: That year Kevin, Juan and Derrick got Ford Focuses. Ford gave them each a car.
Josh Glazer: There were bigger stages, there was more international talent. Ford Focus was the sponsor, and they had these giant jumbotrons showing Ford commercials on mute during the DJ sets, then with the audio during the changeovers. Thinking about it now, wow, that was really tacky. But then again, we didn't know better, we didn't know how everything was supposed to work, we didn't know how everything could work. There was definitely friendships and there was definitely drama that second year.
Brendan Gillen: Detroit has a negative attitude about anyone doing something. There's so much player-hating in this town. If you had a million dollars, everyone will have an opinion on how you should spend it.
EDIT: also lots of great stuff in the above about Carl Craig being fired as creative director that year. wild shit.
This is lit. Truncate b2b Drumcell is dope and Janice b2b Luis Flores will be crazy. Dani Lehman is also the shit. My guess for the Special Guest is [O] Phase or Steve Bicknell

I'm sure more parties will be announced, but my schedule if I went:
Friday: smartbar opening BBQ because Palms Trax and Tin Man Saturday: Tresor or Texture (goddamn, Danny Daze, Lena Willikens, Randomer, Dr. Rubinstein, why did Movement miss out on all these artists?) Sunday: it'd be pretty hard to pick between Interface and No Way Back, Jesus Monday: Where Are My Keys or The Bunker
