looking to go for the first time, better late than never! yall have some top moments from over the years?
happy to hear it, what caused you to want to make it to movement?
top moments:
5/27/17 - Matrixxman @ Underground - closing his set with Depeche Mode's "Nothing" 5/29/17 - Chris Liebing @ Pyramid - one of my favorite DJs, big party set as far as Liebing goes 5/29/17 - Rebekah Hybrid Set @ Underground - still one of the wilder sets I've seen at underground
5/26/18 - Carlos Souffront b2b Bill Converse @ Underground - favorite opening set I've seen a Movement 5/26/18 - Eris Drew @ Underground - just a great classic Underground sweatbox party set 5/26/18 - KiNK @ Stargate - particularly the transition from Saunderson's set to KiNK's set was great 5/28/18 - Derek Plaslaiko @ Tangent Gallery/No Way Back - wild ass early morning/late night set. Plaslaiko was shirtless and drunk and spinning a bunch of nonsense. Don't think I'll ever fully grasp the importance of the No Way Back parties since I wasn't at the early ones, but I think this gave me a taste. 5/28/18 - DJ Stingray @ Underground - probably my favorite Underground set, great crowd, great electro.
5/25/19 - Carl Craig a2a Seth Troxler a2a Mirko Loko @ Magic Stick - great venue, great crowd, cool to see Moodymann just hanging out at the show. Dancey but chill r&bish house vibes. 5/26/19 - Richie Hawtin @ Pyramid - relentless 2 hour techno set, jampacked crowd. 5/27/19 - Tale of Us @ Pyramid - just a lovely set

been wanting to go for years, just haven't been able to make it work. my schedule seems to interfere with every techno event that's ever happened in minneapolis and this and secret project are prolly the most notable events in N. America
Pure speculation yadda yadda but I'd bet paxahau would love to book them, just not sure if they'd pay their price.
Same reason I'm not sure if we'd ever see aphex there. I understand he is expensive.
That's fair. Aphex feels elusive enough to be pretty impossible, but ChemBros seems within the realm of potential outcomes and them getting booked would probably be the only reason I'd attend

just had a thought on Movement eliminating 313. they have mentioned that the Mainstage 313 viewing area will now be open to VIPs, but no mention of the 313 viewing area at the Pyramid. I'm hoping this means they've eliminated it completely, it caused lots of traffic issues during Hawtin and I'm sure during other popular Pyramid acts.
my hope is that they eliminate that area AND open up the left side of the pyramid (if you are facing the water) to traffic, so people can go in and out there. would help crowding tremendously. basically they'd just need to move the security checkpoint for backstage access up to the floor.

The 313 area at Pyramid was on the LEFT side if facing the stage. That elevated platform on the right side that caused traffic issues is a VIP platform.

i got the positions right. i don't think the VIP platform causes traffic issues, because that side is the "entrance" to the stage area at ground level.
but if you are stuck on the left side (facing the water), there is no way out except through the crowd or up the pyramid, both of which are packed.

ah ok
yea that choke point on the left side between the 313 platform and the pyramid is fucking BRUTAL when its packed. nearly impossible for me to get up and into the 313 platform for photos sometimes. so many people stand there and argue with security trying to get into 313 thinking its open to anyone or for VIP and end up blocking the very thin pathway.
My friend is certain that Gesaffelstein is playing this since he cancelled his Detroit stop on this recent tour. Him alone wouldn't get me to come back, but maybe if they have another awesome headliner to pair with him.

That was due to a double booking at the venue it was being held at and low ticket sales. I’d take a movement show as a makeup, but I don’t know why they’d book him when he didn’t sell tickets here in the first place.
about to delve into this list. Erika's IT mix made it. Excited for that Lena Willikens mix as well.
Josey's EM is nominated for EM of the Year, which I predict she'll win (Lena Willikens, Chem Bros and TNGHT are the other nominees). The Dr. Rubinstein Phonica mix, Powder mix album and Aurora Halal and Powder's RA mixes are all worth checking out.
Not a bad first phase. Do you guys think any of those artists headline? I could see them giving Beyer a headline slot.
I am still considering going this year just for the afters and maybe one day of the festival. We'll see!
I thought the same thing about Beyer, but last time he was at Movement he preclosed the main. There is no doubt Beyer is a big name, but I don't think his profile in the US has really changed that much over the past few years. I think if it was like Beyer b2b Cirez D they could make it a headlining act, but by himself I'm not sure. I could see him preclosing main again, maybe even closing Pyramid (although that would be a clusterfuck).
