Haven't stopped thinking about this festival. Me and my crew are all coming back.
Any idea when lineup is normally dropped
end of January.
i've got my hotel booked but no tickets yet.
Ya we got the same hotel but got screwed with the price. Last year our friend had friends and family rates, basically 120 each for three nights at the Marriott. But he doesn't work with them anymore so normal rates.
Kinda wanna be there now. It really has an impact on me.

when phish came back in 2009 a friend of mine was a marriott employee, every show we hit for years we had amazing friends and family discounts.
hotel prices during movement just generally suck. hard to get a great deal. i was happy to be at the courtyard last year for $800 across four nights.
movement is on my mind a lot. i watch last year's recap video a couple times a month. there's something about a festival and a genre that, well this is hyperbole, but "no one" is paying attention to. there isn't a lot of chatter about movement in the music festival press at large, not a big internet community aside from the facebook group, and even that isn't particularly busy. techno is obviously huge internationally but in the states it's still not much of a thing. the only other techno fan i know of who lives in my state is robert hood. then you show up in detroit on memorial day weekend and we all out there you know? definitely a party vibe but overriding that vibe is a love of the music and appreciation for being where it comes from. it's also such an easy festival logistically. as long as you lock down your hotel downtown you are good. nothing feels overly crowded or chaotic, even when things are crowded and chaotic lol. i always have room to breathe at the festival and in detroit. i feel a strong sense of belonging when i'm there, even though my techno roots are shallow relative to the fanbase as a whole.
Curious how the lineup shakes out. I used to always wonder why folks would only do afters, but after the last couple years I get it now
I could understand doing that if you've been to movement a bunch. Lots of similar names year over year or every few years.
I do think 2019 was a step up from 2018 though.
Agreed. I’m just shocked Movement misses out on artists the afters exclusively get (this year including Wata Igarashi, Akua, Move D, Batu, Dr. Rubinstein, Aurora Halal, etc.
Right am I looking too much into it but the movement page posted a gesaffelstein gig in Detroit. From this point if they start advertising gigs like this does the artist seem likely to be on the movement lineup ?

I don’t think so. I believe they have Movement-branded events for shows all the time, but it doesn’t reflect who may or may not be there.

Ah ok .
agree with Fozzie Bear . if paxahau books an event leading up to Movement, it doesn't mean that same artist will be at Movement. Having said that, it doesn't exclude them either. For example, they booked Charlotte De Witte on 29 March 2019 last year, and she ended up performing at the festival (and at an official after party). Then they booked DJ Seinfeld on 6 April 2019 and he did not end up performing at the fest.
Headliner ideas? Would love to finally see something like The Chemical Brothers.
agree on chemical brothers.
would like to have carl cox back. solo preferably but i'll take b2b. not sure if cirez d is a headliner, but cirez d b2b adam beyer is. prydz.
maybe Underworld? does Underworld headline Movement? i feel like if Orbital does so does Underworld, but I'm biased because I'm a bigger Underworld fan.
gotcha thanks. at least it means they will be active. i guess it depends on what, if any, tour dates pop up before that weekend. they started their summer last year may 25th in ibiza.
VIP was $295.90 after fees and shipping. They also noted that VIPs will now have access to the club 313 platform at the mainstage. are they doing away with club 313 tickets?

Must be but still not enticing for me to go VIP again. Queues for everything were small in GA

Yes they did away with it. They've upgraded VIP and the platform is one of the perks. There will be a few more VIP upgrades too but I'm not sure of those details at the moment.
As someone who frequently uses that platform at the Main and Pyramid stages for shooting, I can say it is very nice to watch from up there. Also at the main stage at the top of the platform under the canopy, there are stairs that go down into this private area surrounded by concrete walls where they have an exclusive bar and lounge seating. You wouldn't even know it was there because of the concrete unless you were on the platform.

totally, VIP is not necessary at all. seems like most VIPers like it for the bathrooms but even when I'm VIP i find i use the underground or pyramid bathroom 70% of the time. i like VIP because they have chairs behind the main stage and i like to sit in those.
that 313 viewing deck always looks sweet though. but in opening it up to VIPs it's going to be packed.

cool, thanks for the details. i guess they didn't sell enough 313 tickets to make it worth it. i'll definitely be taking advantage of the mainstage platform, maybe the tiering will help with sightlines when it's crowded.
i didn't know about the secret bar, that sounds like a great place to have a seat.
