Yeah, that's going to be a failing grade. That was a copy/paste article explaining the cap at a very basic level. Next time, I'll just post a link to football for dummies or maybe this

That picture reminds me of the Gators destroying Michigan in the 2018 Peach Bowl
Armstead signed a giant contract with Miami. He stuck around to see if we were going to get Watson and reportedly was willing to give us a discount. We lost cap space over it as well. But there’s where we do get burned sometimes over contracts. Last couple years we lost Hendrickson, Bell, Williams and Armstead. All were 2nd/3rd rounders that panned out and got bank (3rd, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd respectively). We found him at Arkansas Pine Bluff. I hope he can stay healthy for the Dolphins, and congrats to him.
Looks like the Jets and Dolphins have trades ready to go and Tyreek is deciding. Why the hell would he wanna go to NY. Also Florida doesnt have income tax.

I PAY income tax so I don’t have to live in a state like Florida…

Yeah but he got a bag, he can afford to stay away from the crazy shit.

It's a nice perk when I'm living in Pensacola. LA is around 4.7-4.9% which does add up every month. Just the same, I understand. Great pickup for the Dolphins.
I said this about the Chiefs when the signed Mahomes to his massive extension, unlike esteban’s cap magic, Mahomes’ contract would eat at the roster depth as it kicked in. I enjoy this timing as the Broncos are adding weapons to take on the Chiefs.
this is really confusing for the Dolphins wanted to rebuild instead of win claims
We still have two firsts next year and we addressed a couple of the OL spots. It does seem like a lot of money, but that’s one of the only ways that we can realistically compete in this packed AFC. If Tua remains below average to mediocre next year, we have the ability to move on from him. This is what a rebuild looks like in year 4.

It's really tough navigation. Premier quarterbacks generally win super bowls. If you look at the last 15:
Tom Brady Patrick Mahomes Tom Brady Nick Foles Tom Brady Peyton Manning Tom Brady Russell Wilson Joe Flacco Eli Manning Aaron Rodgers Drew Brees Ben Roethlistberger Tom Brady Tom Brady
that's a who's who of this era in QB's along with Nick Foles and arguable one way or another on Joe Flacco and Eli Manning. But they're going to get paid. Something will give as the teams with big cap space can get better quicker and via free agency than those stuck in cap hell or skirting the ice as it were.
Brady wasnt even the highest paid qb either for 90% of his run which is part of the reason why he kept going back to the super bowl. Wilson won with the blueprint most teams are mimicking at the moment. If Wentz was in there instead of Foles it would be ala Wilson. Mahomes same. Burrow almost joined em. And you forgot Stafford for better or worse lol.

Premier QBs on cheaper than market salaries.
Brady has famously taken a smaller salary his entire career. Most those other QBs won before their mega-contracts and never returned (eg Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers). Even Peyton in his second win in Denver took a reduced salary in his 4th year. Flacco and Eli sat on massive contracts post-wins and never returned.
My point has always been that you need an elite QB, but if you want to consistently be in the hunt for SBs, that QB needs to take a hometown discount to allow for additional assets. Mahomes was at his best when he had a ton of weapons (Hill, Kelce, Watkins, Hunt, Bell, etc.). Now they’re down to basically Kelce.

Yeah, Kc fleeced the Dolphins.
That wasn't the point I was making (yeah, I did forget 2022). The point was that premier QB's generally are where you look for who wins super bowls. In the latter part of this era, the best QB's are generally commanding salaries north of $40MM. Brady is different in Tampa since he doesn't need the money anyway. He's a steal at $25MM for what they get, and I'd argue that Winston at $14MM is a steal as well if he can return to at least what he was doing for us last season before he got hurt. Nevertheless, Hill and the Chiefs reached an impasse, and he decided to look elsewhere and also got his bank shored up.
I do agree about the return on the trade though. It's not quite Ricky Williams, but a 2022 1st, 2nd and 4th along with the 2023 4th and 6th is a nice grab and certainly will give the Chiefs some draft day options.
