We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
Wow. This is a hotter mess than I thought it would be. Big Bang off the jump? Wow. Just wow. I am with LLL, fuck Friends. Never watched, never wanted to, it can go.
I am not a Friends enjoyer, but I will not be attempting to vote it off early. the show had an excellent cast and was executed well. for me it just happened to come along at a time when seinfeld was doing it so damn well that it made other live studio audience sitcoms seem lame in comparison.
but i know many smart people who adore Friends and find a lot of comfort in it, so it's not a show i can bring myself to hate.
happy to see big bang go though. obviously a lot of people love it as well but it actively annoys me in a way friends does not.
I think this is a fair assessment of the Friends hate at the time. In 2022, I think a lot of the jokes just haven't aged well, which is the case for many comedies of yore.
curb - great always sunny - great, though i've only seen a handful of episodes friends - fine cheers - great, iconic malcom - great but i haven't watched it since it aired letterkenny - never seen it i love lucy - not super familiar but it's iconic big bang - bad HIMYM - never watched it. caught pieces of a few episodes and i get why it's beloved. similar to friends its a well executed show with a great cast. i understand the ending was controversial. the office - great arrested development - seasons 1-3 great, but only a few great moments in the reboots community - my favorite show of all time regardless of genre that 70s show - good? i enjoyed it when it was on, never rewatched it seinfeld - GOAT multicam parks - great, one of my favorite shows 30 rock - great, in terms of sheer technical execution it's the most impressive sitcom of all time. just a joke machine gun, incredible. fresh prince - great scrubs - i remember loving it when it was on but never rewatched. very good though i think full house - loved it when it was on, never rewatched 99 - great, still haven't watched the last season
honestly this is the most stacked survivor we've had so far. not a lot to hate on this list.

I guess Nathan for You technically isn't a sitcom but good call not including it here since it'd cruise to the win and take all the suspense out of this
When I used to work at some nursing homes down in central Illinois, the buildings were often small with very few residents, so they'd often be in the same room, doing the same thing. At one of them, there would be about a dozen or so people every morning who would sit in the recliners the building had and watch hours and hours of Leave It to Beaver reruns. The channel would just run through all the episodes in chronological order, so you could tell when they were cycling through again because it'd go from black and white to color and back to black and white again.
It doesn't need more #representation just to fill a quota, but there are some good sitcoms here that could have made it on merit.
Totally get that the Cosby Show is a non-starter, but The Jeffersons, Diffrnt Strokes and What's Happenin were a lot better than most of the shows here.
The Whats Happenin ep where they try and bootleg a Doobie Brothers concert? Cmon man

uh oh is this another Survivor where we're gonna be at odds the whole time? #NapSurvivorFlashback
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Full House is pretty much an all time low in sitcoms. The jokes are dumb and contrived. There are some great actors in it, but that doesn’t save the stupidity. Absolute shit. It’s the wimp pop of tv.

I don't think that hell exists, but...
Leave It To Beaver, the Carol Burnett Show, and MASH were my dinnertime viewing as a kid.

Phoebe's all-knowing nod in the background slays me.
"Obviously. Yes. The point is MOO." Joey has some great lines/moments though he's definitely my least favorite Friend (eh, it is between him and Monica)

Where are Good Times, The Jeffersons, A Different World, Sanford and Son, Martin, The Boondocks, Roc...
I kinda think for this stuff Cheers should've been the oldest show. (Actually, I would've understood Cheers not being in this since Frasier already is.) Comedy frequently doesn't age well. Also, a lot of people who participate in this weren't watching TV in the 80's.
Edit: and I think I Love Lucy is just a different thing than the modern sitcom. The physical comedy may hold up but the rest of it maybe not so much.
