Friends is on at the bar, and as a guy who has probably seen about thirty total episodes, why is Joey wearing a military uniform at Chandler and Monica's wedding?

He was filming a WW2 movie with Gary Oldman. He was going to officiate the wedding (ordained on the internet) but Oldman got shitfaced and it was taking forever to wrap their scene, making Joey very late to the ceremony without time to change.

Friends had to go at some point, but it had its highlights for sure. Some that I like are the Gellar Cup, Joey and his identical hand twin, and every answer in the game they play when they bet the apartment (Ms. Chnandler Bong, Big Fat Goalie, sandwiches, etc).
Friends is a league above Brooklyn Nine Nine. Friends gets shit on because it’s overhyped but it’s a solid sitcom.
i disagree it's a league above, i think it's more a matter of preference. to me 99 is clearly superior. better jokes, faster, sharper. also 99 has captain holt, hitchcock, scully, and adrian pimento, friends has none of them.

We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

I was going to vote for Community since I have no idea what it is, but I opted for Fresh Prince which wasn't as good as the hype around it. 7-7-7
Jinx. It just took me a minute to look up how to spell "Philadelphia". Pennsylvania really loves to fuck people up by sometimes putting in redundant consonants, and sometimes not.

I am officially on Fresh Prince. I recently (like just finished it) rewatched it and fuck he is a horndog just trying to get laid. There is even an episode about a girl fucking with him to publicly blast him for his "bad rep."

If we're dinging for that, Cheers should get a look. That was Sam Malone's entire character, and in a much more (by modern standards) misogynistic way.
I have a lot of love for Cheers, but watching it again recently...woof, that stuff jumped out.
Friends did NOT deserve to go this soon. Absolutely iconic. It wouldn't have won for me but it's such a significant piece of pop culture.
it's funny, i was a staunch Friends hater back in the day, but when i saw how early it was going out in this it made me defend it. just because i'm not a fan doesn't mean it wasn't a significant and good show.

Also, I voted for Friends to save I Love Lucy, but I agree that it's not a bad show. The two huge knocks on it, for me, are its overwhelming whiteness (but that could be said of many shows on this list) and its pervasive homo- and transphobia. It was on a long time and had some dud moments and/or arcs, but overall, I don't think it's as bad as the backlash makes it out to be.
