fair point. Not a lot of passion going into this yet as there is a lot of garbage to clean up before things get serious.
Says the guy who is always serious because he doesn't like comedy.
Humor needs to take me by surprise. Comic relief in non comedy movies makes me laugh more often than "comedies" that are just non stop "hey get ready to laugh here it comes boom haha!" These are great takes that you will come around to after you've laughed your last laugh at Brooklyn 99.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

I like it but idk how consistent it is.. but I don't think were at that point in this survivor, it should definitely hang around a few more rounds.
But that's how I feel about Lucy, people say its old or cliched but it started the the whole thing! Lucy and the Honeymooners are the OG sitcoms. Every single show bit off of those two at some point in their series.
Never understood the idea that there’s a somehow “correct” order for when things should go in a survivor when it’s just 50 people anonymously voting for stuff they like or don’t like.

it's really the most fucked up possible way to arrive at a ranking, that's why I run them.

The correct order is whatever I say it is!
Well, yeah, obviously it was correct that Friends just went out because I hate it and I want Ross Geller executed by the state.

It's the perfect inforoo game. Ranking and arguing.

The arguing part is what I enjoy the most. Like, even though I disagree with Jortles’s anti-comedy-as-a-genre argument, I love that it even came up!! You can’t get pure, unadulterated opinions like that anywhere else.
I love Cheers, on the whole. I'm just saying that, if we're knocking Fresh Prince because the main character is a horndog constantly chasing sex with undeveloped female bit characters, Sam Malone is Exhibit A in that regard.
Fresh Prince actually made a thing out of it, though. Did a rewatch lately, and there's an episode in which he kind of falls for a character played by Queen Latifah, but he's embarrassed to admit it because she's not up to a stereotypical beauty standard. The whole episode is about how Will needs to get over that shit.

we're not knocking Fresh Prince because Will is a horndog, we're knocking it because it's not that funny. And if that *is* why we're knocking it, Seinfeld needs to go out even faster

Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

I'm probably going to have to quit following this when the Seinfeld rhetoric gets out of control like this.
But that's how I feel about Lucy, people say its old or cliched but it started the the whole thing! Lucy and the Honeymooners are the OG sitcoms. Every single show bit off of those two at some point in their series.
I don't think anybody is dismissing the show's (or Ball's) importance. It's just not as funny as the other shows at this point.

That's generally the case with the laugh track shows. I fucking hate laugh tracks. However, sometimes Bubbles shows up and you pretty much know it's going to be a riot. They didn't make the list though...
Looks like people are now just knocking off older shows before their time. Lucy, Fresh Prince, and then probably Cheers to go next.
Then probably shows that are beloved but later ran out of steam or had clunky seasons like The Office, Always Sunny, Community, Arrested Development.
Curb, Parks and Rec, and Malcolm are probably the most consistent in terms of laughs and quality. And as much as some would hate it, B99.
good point about consistency/clunky seasons.
as much as i love community i can't stan for season 4/gas leak season. though on my last rewatch it was better than i remember it being. HOWEVER i will not hear criticisms of season 5 and 6. season 6 is brilliant and ended the show beautifully. frankie in particular was amazing. i say this all the time but S6E1 is one of my favorite episodes of the whole series.
when it was airing i actually stopped watching the office after michael scott left. but when i go back and rewatch there are still many enjoyable episodes. and the last season was very good.
always sunny i can't speak too, haven't seen more than a few episodes.
arrested development should probably never have rebooted.
haven't watched the last season of 99 yet but i don't think any of the other seasons were clunkers, very consistent show.
i think parks and 30 Rock were the most consistently great shows on the list. parks took a bit to get going though, took a season or so for the writers and actors to find their characters, whereas 30 Rock was completely locked in from episode 1. not saying it didn't grow and progress but the show feels remarkably confident right away.
i keep talking myself into 30 Rock being the best show on this list.
I'd rather have two or three classic seasons than a decade of mediocrity.
Will restate this opinion probably 20 times but Arrested's reboot seasons simply do not take away from the godly originals. Jesus Is King doesn't lower Kanye's overall value it just doesn't add to it.
