i'm still kind of surprised at the pushback B99 is getting. i know it wasn't as beloved as parks or the office but i thought it was generally regarded as a good show on inforoo.

Everybody loved B99 until it became part of the conversation around how much the police suck and whether TV that makes them cute and funny is inherently also bad.

For me its less about that and more about nothing in this video getting me to crack a smile or at least blow a little air out of my nose in the form of a minor laugh:

That's because this video is terrible and not really representative of what makes the show enjoyable.
I also want to be clear I aam not going to take the ACAB angle with Brooklyn 99 because I have also seen nearly every episode of CSI, the one police procedural I like (but one I wouldn’t call good, either.)
Also, Parks and Rec/The Good Place are clearly the superior Mike Schur shows.
99 isn't really a schur show. schur is a co-creator of B99, but had limited involvement in the series overall. schur co wrote two episodes of season 1, and directed one episode in season three and one episode in season four.

Which, to their credit, they dove into head on in their last season.
To say there is nothing similar at all between Parks and B99 is absurd.
to your point: they're both workplace sitcoms. they're both ensemble pieces but centered around a main character who is extremely passionate about their job. they both have a workplace romance between two main characters. they both have a conflicting boss/subordinate relationship that develops into a mentorship.
but beyond that there are significant differences in character types, setting, and tone.
characters: while you can draw similarities between leslie and jake, as noted above, beyond that i don't think you can draw direct lines between characters. holt is very different from ron, ben wyatt very different from amy, the "best friend" characters ann and boyle are completely different. and i wouldn't even know who to compare terry/gina/rosa and tom/donna/jerry/andy/april/chris traeger to. in fact wow, kind of crazy how big the cast of series regulars on parks is. hitchcock/scully are kind of condensed versions of all the dumb pawnee townspeople. even moving into the series occasionals there aren't any clean character types you can trace. B99 has adrian pimento/doug judy, parks has the sapersteins/the tammys/jennifer barkley/bobby newport/councilman jamm/lil sebastian.
setting: parks differentiates itself greatly by being able to create it's own little world with pawnee and the greater pawnee area. b99 is just in brooklyn. and not even real brooklyn it's a brooklyn soundstage.
tone: both are comedies with heart, but parks is way smooshier and more emotional.
so i don't wholeheartedly agree with you, B99 isn't a blatant parks rip off, but there are clearly some similar elements. but a lot of those elements can be traced to the office as well.

Yeah, the premise is very similar. Public sector workplace sitcom. Broad strokes I think Jake and Leslie are similar, they're both hypercompetent goofballs. Ray and Ron are both stern, dry bosses. They're similar. It's like saying Simpsons and Family Guy aren't similar in any way because one has a talking dog.
B99 is quality and consistent throughout its whole run, but it's probably fair that because it being a light-hearted cop show that it just pisses people off.
I do think if anyone stuck with it longer than just one season they'd never vote for it this early. Personally I think Samberg is hilarious and underrated and should be propped up as much as possible.
