Holy shit, we actually have a tie! > DC has weird drinking laws (I think? I have no idea what this was referring to.) > Atlanta has traffic > Honolulu has the rest of Hawaii > Boston has racists > Theo's family is cursed > Where would you rather go: Honolulu or Minneapolis? (The answer is, of course, Honolulu for the weather, Minneapolis for the hamburger with the cheese in the middle. Ignore the fact it's -25 degrees outside.) > We need to answer three philosophical questions: 1) do you have to want to live in one of these cities to support it? > 2) is there a huge difference in quality between the actual beaches of Hawaii and the beaches on the Atlantic Ocean? > 3) why is hoffm83n riding his bike outside in 5 degree weather? Does he know he can take the bus? > Reasons why NYC sucks > Reasons why Honolulu sucks > Reasons why Las Vegas sucks > Actually it's mostly just reasons why the gambling industry sucks > The desert in Las Vegas is nice > And so is the possibility of getting away with a lot of crime! > sang has never seen a single breast in his life like god intended > people think they're too good for Las Vegas > What culture has Vegas brought to the country? > CSI, Love Island season 2, The Killers, Imagine Dragons. admittedly not off to a great start! > jpbrez brings up vog, a word I have not been able to stop saying all day > Honolulu is singlehandledy keeping Sammy Hagar's career alive > jorge writes likes a Baptist preacher or a "strong-jawed medieval knight" (another great turn of the phrase) > Should we bring up what celebrities are from what cities? > yes > maddog saw his first prostitute in Honolulu just like god intended > Is Miami bad? > Is Minneapolis bad? > a brief discussion about the Varsity Theater bathroom, which I will have you know was voted the best bathroom in America in 2013 > A brief discussion about the myriad of great musicians Minneapolis has given the world and a few bad ones > If there was a state survivor, which one would be the first to go? > But, more importantly, let's not do a State Survivor > Everyone is deeply impressed by me picking random colors on the color wheel to emphasize how much I love The Hold Steady > When this is all over, let's go to the Bacchanal at Caesar's and eat some breakfast food everyone on Inforoo will hate. (I've heard Wynn is better though.)
people despised me when I did a HL synposis thread and I hated it, so godspeed shuck. This looks like it could get even nastier
There was a fast food survivor synopsis thread that 3post1jack1 ran for a while and that was pretty successful. I may lack postjack's loving teasing, genuine good-natured commentary, and accrued goodwill, but I plan on compensating by being a huge bitch.
Sorry guys, a friend from out of town came to visit and we got spectacularly drunk on Saturday and I was spectacularly hungover on Sunday so I didn't write recaps. I'll write my recap for today's later but I'm going to do the other two days now.

Fucking Aquaman? > Only one city in California allowed > garageland reps VA > but jpbrez counters Richmond would've probably gone first (Having lived there: yeah lol) > Discussion on Virginia Beach/Hampton Roads > sang has heard a lot of things about this place they called the United States > and we found out Virginia really is for the lovers > Philly's full of friendly friends that'll love you like a brother > ok I've already made enough Hold Steady jokes for one Survivor > Racism in Virginia and NYC > Bill Burr hates Philadelphia

Everybody gets their game face as we continue our collective mission to get rid of all the fun places > Vegas vs. Nashville: which sucks more? > Everybody on page 1 always brings up Portland for some reason. I don't think it's going anywhere anytime soon honestly but I guess we have to bring it up > Vegas vs. Nashville continues: > Did you know country music is bad? > Did you know bachelorette parties are bad? > Did you know food is good? > LLL makes a case for Akron > Katy Mae comes for my ass re:Boston > Some people like Miami and some don't > Did you know weed is good? > Portland vs. Seattle: which sucks more? > Did you know that Portlandia was a TV show? > Did you know Seattle is denser? > Did you know people think Portland is weird? > pablo comes for Carrie Underwood (smh, "Two Black Cadillacs" slaps) > somebody shat themselves at Ultra (does this not happen regularly?) > cdev goes to Vegas > oh right I forgot the reason round 7 didn't start until way later than it should have today is because Teddy abandoned his responsibility. teddy, do better > People say what cities they have and haven't been to > In west Philadelphia, born and raised/on the playground is where Jaz spent most of his days > I've complained like twice now wondering why this shit went to 3 pages and here I am now, reading my post on page 3 I made 8 hours ago about the Real World, a show I have only watched a minimal amount of reruns of. shuck, do better

DMS has us covered with the Will Smith memes > esteban makes a football joke that took me all day to get but now I get it and I think it's very funny > It's Boston time > postjack is going to be the first in line to see Phish at the freaky looking CGI illuminati music sphere in Las Vegas > danbob reenacts the American Revolution > but somehow sang is the one who actually traveled back in time > Miami vs Boston: beer vs liquor > Is there anything good *inside* Boston? (Fenway?) > The Dropkick Murphys > What's special about Philadelphia? (Besides its weird socialist hockey mascot) > people wondering on and off why other people hate Miami so much > Discussion on racism in Philadelphia vs Boston > Discussion on racism in Chicago vs Boston > Discussion on racism in America > Discussion on homophobia in Florida > Discussion of the diversity of Boston's politicians > I tried to make a Sartre/Vieux pun just and fortunately for you all, I think it's impossible > truevine shows up to defend Miami

(No.) > potentpotables ranks the MLB stadiums represented in this survivor > the Waffle House inside Truist Park is briefly discussed > Comiskey Park is briefly discussed > snoke briefly brings up the merits of potentpotables' list in maybe the lightest debate had so far this game > cincinnasti comes back (I had to cross the river in Kentucky to get to a Waffle House when I went to Cincinnati. 0/10) > Fenway Park is breifly discussed > There's a discussion on homelessness I'm not gonna touch > People are overly proud of their regional fast food chains > pablo stans Bonefish Grill > Anthony Bourdain stans Waffle House > Keep Portland weird > And also possibly more diverse than Denver (idk, I'm not reading through the stats) > cdev does NOT stan for In N Out > esteban makes a shockingly good WAP/diversity pun > people shat on Florida but not Tennessee or Louisiana > which leads to a discussion if Louisiana is worse than Florida (my grandma lives in Florida so I'm staying out of this one.) > Multiple people do NOT stan the Denver airport

Secret round...revenge on my mind > People mention various cities they're going to be voting for. > potentpotables posts about the East Coast's superiority > I disagreed, and fun fact: I actually made the same post 3 times in response to that because I was in a building with no cell phone reception. Excellent as always. But everyone should care about Thievery IMHO. I gotta drive back to New Orleans on Sunday morning, but there is a fairly decent chance I’ll make it downtown to see them that night. They’ve never done me wrong live.
