We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

i've almost flown into newark but always end up falling back to LGA or JFK. so i'm not speaking from experience, but it appears newark has the easiest public transportation option to manhattan via the Airtrain.
i've found JFK to be a perfectly lovely airport. maybe just my experience but easy security, plenty of room. it's just the furthest from manhattan.
LGA not so great, but i understand the new delta terminal is super nice. i'll find out in a couple weeks.
Why do people hate the Newark airport so much? I've never had a bad experience there. Not good per se, I'd say it's average.
In 25 years here, I have never had an on-time flight into or out of EWR.
Living in a small city for 12 years, Newark was often my best option to fly anywhere of a distance (cross country, transatlantic), and I can't remember any flights being delayed. It's not a ton but I've flown to/from Iceland, Ireland, Spain, France, and Germany from there in the last 6-7 years. Now their customs, on the other hand...but all customs kinda suck. I think Newark usually has the cheapest flights to Europe from the East Coast, or at least the difference in cost is negligible to travel another hour to Queens.

Getting there and back is so hard
UNLESS YOU LIVE IN JERSEY CITY! Muah ha ha haaaaaa
Maybe that's the difference between living in the city and flying from Newark vs coming from out of state to fly out of Newark. There was a train from Harrisburg to Newark (via Philly) that took about 2.5 hours but was super delightful when the alternative was driving 2.25 hours (if traffic cooperates) and paying for a week of parking.

The ranking will change when LGA is finally finished "upgrading" but currently, if you're staying in Manhattan or "nice Brooklyn", the ranking is:
1. JFK 2. Newark 3. LGA
Newark is technically commutable via the air train / NJ Transit to Penn Station, but it's over $15 each way last time I did it (it's been a minute). If you're traveling with more than one person, it starts to feel as if a cab is better, but I've had cabs (before I moved to JC) cost up to like $100 to get back from Newark. JFK is reliable in terms of AirTrain and has the A and J that pretty much connect to all the other trains you need to get to where you're going. It'll take over an hour, but the price is worth it.
LGA used to be the best because it's train-to-an-express-bus for a grand total of $2.75, but now with the construction at the airport itself, no matter how you get there (uber or bus) it's a long time before you get out of the cab once you enter the airport grounds.
