USA celebrating Cinco de Mayo is like if Italians drank Budweiser and ate hamburgers to celebrate Jackson's victory at New Orleans. It's weird and needs to go.
if you are not a Christian Easter is DUMB and just as performative and commercial as something like Valentine's day, it's not even close to being the best candy holiday or food holiday, and it's not even a kitschy drinking day

This is not wrong, but if I’m where my family is, they make ham and mashed potatoes and macaroni and deviled eggs on Easter, and those are all my favorite things. Counterpoint, I don’t usually travel for Easter because it’s dumb, so I don’t get those things. Conclusion, I’m not on Easter now, but it’s definitely low on my list.
I'm on a similar page with Easter. Easter really only means something to those who are religious and/or have kids. I haven't cared about it since my cousins got old enough where there was no one to search for the eggs. This year, it was an average Sunday but worse because my usual Sunday evening hangout spot was closed.
It's very low on my list, but there are things that are lower.
EDIT: When my family still lived nearby, we used to go out for Mexican for dinner every year. So obviously the holiday means a lot to everyone in my family. haha
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

easter is a really shitty holiday that’s actually a real holiday. We gotta get some of this fake crap out of here first.

…if you believe in the resurrected Christ. For everybody else, it’s a Sunday.

It’s kind of weird though in that many Christians claiming first century status think it’s a pagan holiday since it’s based on astronomical factors.
Same with Christmas, really - I think Jesus was supposedly born in August, historically speaking? But those pagans were having too much fun with winter solstice, so...

I mean real in the sense that its a holiday that has traditions and is observed and is a unique day on the calendar. Unlike earth day. I'm not christain I know what its about is bullshit.
That's nice and sorry you lost your folks. For me, I've never seen someone who really enjoyed either one, and I certainly don't. Hallmark Holiday. Next!

Easter was my mom's favorite holiday so it's a lot of happy memories for me. For us it was basically thanksgiving but with prettier weather. Get together with the family, eat a big meal.
And since I was a little kid we always make a bunny cake. My sister and I decorated it when we were kids and when she had kids they decorated it. My nieces are teenagers now but I still laugh about the absolutely atrocious bunny cakes they decorated. Just a mess of jelly beans and M&Ms. Ugly but always delicious.
Oh and we always did an Easter egg hunt. As an uncle I liked pretending I was being really aggressive during the egg hunt so I could get all the candy instead of my nieces.
Anyway my happy memories aren't a reason for y'all to spare Easter, I don't care, but it was nice to type it out.

My thing is the last pre-Covid Fathers Day was spent with my 3 adult children watching Phish at Bonnaroo. That ended up being my favorite show I saw that year, so I did enjoy that one. Otherwise I don’t really care that much.

Pretty much the same. Holiday food, family, drinking, excessiveness. It checked all the important boxes for me.
