They sounded great and performed well. Matt especially seemed to be having a good time. I was disappointed they dropped the rotation slot that had Citizen/Stockholm/Bliss/Map though. Was hoping for more than just new album + hits. They have the capability of putting on a really rocking show. Songs like Thought Contagion have no business taking up a slot.

Also too many interludes.
Fourth time I’ve seen Muse and still have not seen Map of the Problematique live 😭

In the order seen: Olivia Jean- Garage rock is not dead. Also sick cover of Enya (!). Sunflower Bean- Criminal Records stage is a real oasis in the sea of people. I love going to early sets and getting up close. Shame (partial)- They were really angry about the coronation or something… Heartless Bastards- are one of those bands you like, but didn’t realize it until you saw them. This is what I love about festivals. 311- Can’t believe they’ve been around for 33 years. I feel old. Great show but I cut out early, and it was packed all the way to the back of Piedmont. Insane. Soccer Mommy- I’m probably the only Inforoo’er for whom Soccer Mommy was top priority. Her album Color Theory came out early in the pandemic and (unintentionally) captured emotions many of us were feeling. I leaned on that album and looked forward to the day we could all connect again. Finally saw her play those songs live- Mission accomplished! Muse- I haven’t followed them in 10 years or so, but their playing is impeccable, and their effects and visuals over the top.
I like both FJM and Black Angels. Is FJM a decent live act or is he a bit lacking in the live dept?
We saw FJM at a small fest in 2018- he had a full band, horns and strings. His singing and showmanship were top notch, almost theatrical, like the lead in a Broadway play. He’ll play some of his recent stuff which is really mellow. We’re looking forward to that set as a nice change-up from the rest of the day.

Yeah I agree - his live show is pretty stellar - saw him a few weeks ago and he had horns and a pretty big band and sounded great. The new songs benefit from the bigger band. He’s also very funny obviously, his between song chatter is worth the price of admission. At one festival I saw him recite Fred Durst’s Woodstock 99 ‘Break Stuff’ monologue while introducing his next song

Muse were way better than the other time I saw them. We were surprisingly able to get pretty close and it was incredible. Ten times better than the Bonnaroo show. That production was excellent, as well. Big Boi has been the guest star of the weekend. Who's he gonna come out with today, Fjm?

if only 3 stacks liked performing as much as Big Boi

Muse have been great every time I have seen them. I went 13 years without seeing them because I don’t like their recent music but they’re still great live.

Muse’s set is better than the setlist looks on paper. Their worst songs are the ones that have the best visual effects and are able to keep the crowd engaged for.
I liked but didn't love Futurebirds before seeing them, but after seeing them yesterday I understand why they're so popular 'round these parts. One of the best sets of the day

I’ve never heard them sound that good. I think it’s probably because it was early and they were sober.

I’m soooooo glad I decided to see Phanto last night. I sat back on the hill and the sound was great. Good mix of old and new stuff. And then they said “this is our last Phantogram song!” before bringing out BB to do two Big Grams songs. There was a dude in front of us that was absolutely vibin’ and boppin’ around.
Soccer Mommy, although I was very hype to see her (and her set was one of my faves), the sound mixing was Not Good. Bass drowned out her voice and I could barely hear her talking between songs. Still had a good time tho. Saw this one solo and did not feel bad ditching my friends to see her.
