Metallica will do nicely
Nah. I saw Metallica last time they were here in Atl and they were great but idk if they are a fit for SK. or maybe the Metallica fans of GA are not the SK crowd? I dont want to deal with too many lets go brandon folks at SK.

so I understand where you're coming from but I saw Metallica at Rockville in Daytona Beach and had zero issues, and I can't imagine Georgia Metallica fans are much worse than Florida Metallica fans

That was one little group. I was pleased that more people didn't join in with them. It also happened at the Down show, but again it was just one little group.
When Metallica played Boston Calling, it was a weird vibe on Sunday. Half the crowd was there just for them, and it made sets like Glass Animals just seem off.

Japanese Breakfast was the only set i saw where it seemed like most people in the crowd were actually there for them and not just metallica fans wandering around

I was at Goose, which was criminally unattended. That and J.Brekkie were the only ones that weren't Metallica fans just waiting.
Thinking of finally crossing SK off my bucket list next year. I've always been impressed with the lineups and the acts that are in the possible pool of headliners next year is all-too-intriguing. I could see something like Tool-Arcade Fire-Paramore...okay, that might a little too good to be true, but still amped to see what SK rolls out next year.

seems realistic Tool brings in a dedicated base, AF are indie legends and Paramore would bring in a young crowd. Not crazy expensive and if they have the money I think they’d do this in a heartbeat
I think Arctic Monkeys are #1 most likely next year. Perfect blend of indie legend and relevant to a younger crowd bc of AM.
I'd also throw out Florence & Gorillaz in that general theme of Arctic Monkeys that could be in play. All would be great gets.
Also, could Shaky be the fest to finally gives Glass Animals the bump to HL status, especially if they go really pricy on a legacy (Metallica, RHCP, GnR, PJ, etc)? They feel like they're right at the brink of the level and Shaky seems like the fest that would be first to pull the trigger.

agree on glass animals, seems like a Stevie/RTJ situation. Gorillaz are coming in October and while I think shaky would book them, I don’t think gorillaz would come back to the states that soon. They have a pretty expensive tour setup and flying that much equipment and people over isn’t cheap.
Florence is coming this fall too I think? AM just seems in that perfect spot of “young people like them” and “don’t like them enough to go to a show just to see them” spot that the Strokes hit.

as someone who’s a big fan of The Strokes, I feel way more people, especially younger kids would go way more out of their way to see Arctic Monkeys rather than The Strokes.

Yeah I definitely need to beef-up my knowledge on the Atlanta concert scene haha

probably but I mean they both kinda fill that spot of "lots of young people would see them at a fest" as opposed to paying $80 to see them at the Roxy or something
I’m a Glass Animals fan and I think they’re on that level, but imo they feel a bit too far into the pop sphere now for Shaky headliner. I know bands like Phoenix have headlined, but they feel less “mainstream pop” than Glass Animals does now.
