Look I know Labor Day's achievements doesn't cover ALL workers, but it did help move most jobs to the "five day work week" and progress worker's rights. "Independence Day" feels like a MAGA holiday now.
A strong, valid case has been made for why Thanksgiving sucks so much harder than these other holidays, but people are gonna keep it in because it's a good football weekend.

True, but Thanksgiving is a day where things are actually closed for me so I love that

A case has been made. I wouldn't say it was a strong one as it was based on the history of the holiday like we haven't learned from it.

If you have to work on Labor Day, the problem lies with your employer - not with the holiday itself. (This was not directed to you or anyone in particular.)

A good football weekend, as well as good food, is what I personally am looking for in a holiday.
No one seems to have an issue with Halloween which is literally for worshipping Satan.
Samhain itself might be, but I thought that Peter Paul & Mary's "A'Soalin'" told the story about impoverished Irish that got us the tradition of going door to door for candy - but then it was about actual needy begging?

To mock the poor Irish in this way is simply unacceptable.

Lol, but they didn't mock them. And my 100% Irish dad's families were all still over there suffering until the late 1800's. So it was us. I couldn't find the intro talk that sets the story for the somber song. Wish I could have found that. I just remember it was on a live album and they spent a few minutes before performing to discuss the historical significance.
I'm on Halloween from here on out unless I need to shift to save something. I know it won't go out soon, but it's definitively the worst one on the list for me.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
After voting Labor Day, which I wouldn't have if it celebrated the beauty of childbirth and the pain/sacrifice a mother has to endure. But after this I'm boycotting. It's not because of the stupidity of what's left, but I love all these holidays.

Agreed. Any holiday that I don't get off is a major minus.

I get three days off for Thanksgiving. I don't even like the food that much, but I like having 5 days spending with family I don't get to see often.
I could take or leave the turkey and cranberries. I love the rest of it.
Yeah. There’s nothing that says you have to eat turkey. It’s traditional and I’ll take a slice if someone has it. But you can just as easily do any type of holiday protein like roast, ham, seafood, etc. just don’t serve me fucking baked macaroni and cheese. Yeah I know. I know. It’s modern America. Maybe so. But a lot of shit is modern America.
I’ll even take a small serving of the 1950’s classic canned green beans cream of mushroom soup and fake fried onions. Viva ultra processed.
I take a at least a little of everything besides cranberry. I just despise sweet in my meals. Things I really don't want like turkey, I cut up real small and hide in my mashed potatoes. My family tends towards healthy recipes (or as healthy as this holiday can be), so we don't usually have casserole type things.
We don't do mac n cheese for Thanksgiving, but I am with you on not baking it. Mac n cheese is one of my favorite things, but I think baking it ruins it.
