We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
Yeah, that was some weak ass shit voting off the one band that outshined all others. It was the 4th of July, and I had just broken out of my rusty cage. There was some new damage to my shoulders, so I was standing with my arms all out like I'd been carrying a load. I decided to visit my girl, and as I was halfway there I walked past a limo wreck caused by a nazi driver but kept my head down as the priest started to administer holy water to one of the victims suffering from a head injury lying on the ground next to a flower. But he didn't. I was dressed as the mailman because I knew she liked surprises though there was half, no zero chance, she'd mistake me for him, Ty Cobb or Dusty. I pulled up with my gun, the burden in my hand. Plan was to ask her to put her hands all over and get on the snake. The ugly truth is that it was all on a power trip because she refused to get off my wave a thousand days before, and I had been away too long. I envisioned some big dumb sex or loud love only to find her pretending to have died - just like suicide.

Pearl Jam’s a very good band but they’re a band I respect more than I like. Rage is just straight to the point, raw energy and it gets me going every time. I would be happy to see them win the whole thing.
