I feel like Lauper actually DOES things to help the community, whereas Madonna says things & really profits off of queer culture. She’s a very self centered icon

My dad still makes fun of me for dressing up like Cyndi Lauper and Boy George so that I could dance and sing on our front porch and put on "concerts" when I was a kid. When I tell him about some partying I've done or festival I've been to, he'll start singing "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun". So no Cyndi voting for me.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
