For what it’s worth, these artists all had some great jams in the ‘80s. I believe Tina Turner and Whitney Houston are the only ones who didn’t write any of those jams.
I always loved Prince’s music… but also kinda hated him because he was uber-religious (which isn’t a problem) but it led him to having condescending views towards the gay community.
Lionel wrote his songs, and Tina didn’t. All these artists are great, but if we’re looking for best overall artist, songwriting goes a long way in my book.

We apparently weren't. Pop stars and singers of bangar hits are what matters here except for the 4 of us who apparently were alive in the 1980's and know better. Otherwise, it's like fighting over eating dog or cat food for dinner.
