nah this is gonna be what we get. id bet a beer at least half of this ends up being top 6. they are NOT booking the cure lol. They’ll be tripling down on americana after this lineup
I do think they’ll stick with the gender balance tho, which is one of the few things this fest did very well this year

This but Sunday is Imagine Dragons - Weezer. I think they're allergic to anything popular with under-30s

This is very, very possible, but they'd be more likely to book Hozier on Brandi day, if their touring schedules play out in a way which would allow that, since they've performed together at festivals and benefit shows. (I do wonder if they might opt for The Highwomen instead of Brandi Carlile, especially since Yola often performs with them as the fifth Highwoman, which would bring even more diversity to the top line.)
It wouldn't surprise me if they went with SZA instead of Brandi and Phoebe instead of The Strokes in my top six mock.
Do you think that Steven Tyler's history might keep them out of the lineup? There are a whole lot of people who'd be up in arms if Arcade Fire or Ryan Adams showed up in a Boston Calling lineup, but what Tyler did went a lot farther than anything alleged of Butler or Adams. There's a civil suit happening right now over this.
I'm thinking that Aerosmith is more likely to show up at Gillette or Fenway next year. I don't see John Henry or Robert Kraft having a problem with Tyler's history, but Boston Calling has always been a lightning rod for conversations about equity, diversity, and inclusion in the lineup and the audiences that their lineups have attracted, and I can't see them opening up that can of worms by booking them. If the festival is concerned about attendees feeling safe and not being triggered by a known abuser on the top line, why invite trouble? Allegations like these never seem to create as many problems on headlining tours, as opposed to festivals, mainly because nobody goes to a headliner/opener tour unless they like the headliner and buy tickets to see them, but it's going to be a publicity problem for Boston Calling.
Booking Aerosmith at Boston Calling is as much of a potential problem as booking Kanye West would be, especially with the lawsuit likely to garner press over the course of the next year.

C'mon guys, Aerosmith is not playing Boston Calling. Also how can we possibly already be talking about something that's 13 months away?
FWIW, TD Garden posted an Aerosmith teaser on an exterior video screen, so wherever else they play locally on their about-to-be-announced tour, they're almost certainly playing the Garden.
My guess would be a New Year's Eve run.

Big news...there's been a stealth food and beverage lineup drop.
When you go to the info page and click the drop down for food & beverage, it offers a link to the list of 2022 vendors, noting that the 2023 vendors will be announced in upcoming months.
But when you click on that link, you're obviously seeing this year's lineup, since there are some all-new vendors, some regulars, and some which were there last year are no longer listed.
New additions include Lily P's Fried Chicken, Flour Bakery, Naco Taco, and Blackbird Donuts. Returning vendors include The Smoke Shop (it wouldn't be Boston Calling without their BBQ waffle cone), Tasty Burger, Chicken & Rice Guys, and Roxy's. FOMU is back, but sadly as usual, there's still no dairy-rich ice cream at Boston Calling, despite the large number of really great ice cream parlors and manufacturers in New England. The vendor selling those funky and oh-so-colorful sushi nachos is back this year, as well.
There are the usual vegetarian and vegan options, including Farmacy and Rice Burg, as well as a few sellers of hand-foods like empanadas, dumplings, and pierogi.
There are a few headscratchers under beverages. The only beer listed is Miller Lite and Samuel Adams. Apparently, the imported beer sellers are gone. Strangely, Liquid Death Mountain Water is listed. I'm wondering if this means that they won't be selling spring or purified water in plastic bottles, which would be a dumb move. A lot of people, if not actually most people, preferred capped bottles, so you can sip over time and not have to carry an open can in your hand for a long time. You're still allowed to bring one factory sealed bottle of water in, so it's possible to pour the Liquid Death into your bottle after you've finished the original contents. (I don't understand how anyone could use the provided water station. It seems like over half of the people who use it touch the rim of their bottle or canteen -- i.e., the part that goes in your mouth -- up to the spigot. Even without Covid, that's just gross.)
Calling it now - Aerosmith is one 2024 headliner 🤢
I remain resolute in my optimism for the 2024 top six:
The Cure - The Killers - Brandi Carlile
Hozier - The Strokes - Jason Isbell
Basically, any six of the following:
The Cure
The Killers
The Strokes
Hozier
Brandi Carlile
The Highwomen
Mumford & Sons
Jason Isbell
SZA
Phoebe Bridgers
(An as yet unformed and unannounced supergroup, like all of the guys from Rush and The Police who aren't Sting or Neil Peart, or a John Mayer-Ryan Adams project.)

So, I had the official drop beat by a couple of hours...
FWIW, I tried Top Shelf Cookies last year and I was not impressed at all. They're not terrible cookies or anything, but there are literally dozens of places in the greater Boston area where you can get better cookies...like any Panera or Tatte, for example. There's a bodega right in Harvard Square with a hot foods bar at the corner of Brattle and Church, and they have decent cookies in the case right at the door.
My two cents worth on Tasty Burger is that the actual restaurants are decent, but they never have their best menu items at Boston Calling. Considering that there's a Tasty Burger in Harvard Square three or four blocks from the main gates to the festival, just go there and try what sounds interesting to you as opposed to the reduced options inside the festival gates. Harvard Square is filled with burger options, from semi-fast food to upscale, old school to funky: Mr. Bartley's, Boston Burger Company, Shake Shack, and Tasty, with well-regarded burgers at just about every upscale table service restaurant in Harvard Square.
But, really, nobody's missing that band they want to see just to get a really good burger.
I'm also not terribly enamored of Blackbird Donuts. They're OK, but they're the one getting pinned in a triple-threat cage match with Kane's Donuts and Union Square Donuts.
honestly a crime they havent brought arancini bros back. thrilled for flatbread, roxys, farmacy and jaju
i'm not usually one to care about the food options, i'm drunk and don't want to miss too much music and just pick whatever is halfway decent (not carnival vendors) with the shortest line... BUT damnnn Arancini Bros is the one vendor i'd wait in line for. i miss them so much. it has to be their decision to not be there, though. i imagine boston calling doesn't pay food vendors, so if they haven't been back then i think it's likely on them. sucks either way, though

yeah last time i had them was at gov ball 2021. might see if i can just order some frozen
Why do I think Brandi would be Red closer, not Green?
She headlined the Garden the last time she was in Boston, which definitely makes her top line. She's a bigger draw than Paramore or The Lumineers.
Yet strangely Paramore has a sold out south america, u.s. and uk tour and not supporting somebody else on the bulk of a stadium tour this summer like Brandi is. Thats not even counting all their headline slots at fests. I wonder who is drawing more currently.

You're right. Paramore would never do that.
Taylor is literally the biggest musical solo act in modern history besides Michael Jackson. Any artist that plays arenas (and by extension, headline festivals) could open for her

Joy Oladokun's new album came out today and has songs that feature both Mt. Joy and Noah Kahan, who are both playing on Saturday as well. Joy is on green right before Mt. Joy plays red, which then leads to Noah Kahan on green. I'd imagine they would both join Joy during her set.

my favorite thing on inforoo currently is TW12 making completely wild and untrue proclamations about what artists are more popular, based entirely on his own personal tastes and whatever venue that act played in boston recently
Ed Sheeran is playing the Wang. So, he's the equivalent of a late afternoon Blue stage act?
That's a disingenuous comment. He's also doing two nights at Gillette. This is simply a small hall tour preceding the large venue tour. This happens from time to time.

no she absolutely isnt
She is in Boston, at least. There's a reason why Boston Calling is breaking from their normal practice of headliners running mostly unopposed and scheduling two-thirds of Paramore's set to overlap with King Gizzard. That's because Paramore is barely popular enough for the spot. Sure, they're getting a boost in ticket sales from having been off the road for a while, but they're not going to be selling out arenas in perpetuity.

Nah, they're gonna book Ed Sheeran on the blue stage at 5pm. I'm right because I don't like his music

yeah this isn't a thing, the headliners were "mostly" unopposed last year but were fully opposed in 2019. you literally don't know what you're talking about.

It's certainly better than those posts with giant neon fonts
