I’m going to make the typical moron Inforoo argument for voting for punk. Some of it is really bad so the entire genre should suffer.
But honestly, punk likely has the highest percentage of strait dogshit bands of any genre left.
Not to mention posers and a mainstream foundation under a band that was nothing but marketing.
A lot of punk fans are insufferable as well. I know this from growing up around them.
i suppose youre right, i’m just thinking of like, post punk, emo and noise rock all being sort of derived from punk and i would hate to see all those genres go out now
oh I wouldn’t hold that up as a great point on my part. No was more mimicking the way folks argue in these types of threads.
I don’t feel I have the knowledge to argue against some of these genres. EDM ones to be specific. I like a lot of it but it’s not really my preference. That just seems like a poor reason to vote against stuff.
One reason to vote against punk since hardcore is out is one of the worst songs by one of the worst bands. We Suck by Even Worse. Maybe it’s sort of hardcore, but they suck.
Disco has adapted to stay relevant, unlike genres like funk, jazz, metal and soul.
Is your definition of relevant just partying/clubbing? I feel like in their respective cultural spheres jazz and metal haven't ever really gone anywhere.
There's lots of stuff I'm ready to see go before house. Personally it's metal for me, then maybe jazz. Important genres but not ones I love at this point in the survivor. I'd be pretty fine with punk going here too.

I'd vote jazz to save house, but I'm voting house to save punk
