All I am hearing is complaints about the other genres but this being my 14th genre survivor thread, I have never been more excited. Call it development in my growth with music but my first genre survivor threads were being excited for big name mainstream indie acts but the magic of genre survivor isn't who will be there at the end, it's about DISCOVERING all of the amazing music out there as it gets voted off.
while I am mainly an indie guy, the possibility that folk, funk, and classic rock could last longer has me shaking in excitement. I'm gonna fucking party and I want all of you fucks dancing with me.
I really enjoy disco. That James Murphy, Pat Mahoney fabriclive is one of my favorite mixes ever. But we are coming in to the top 10 in a few rounds and idk if disco is a top 10 genre. Maybe not this round or next. But soon.

Chic has as much funk if not more than disco. They hybridized, synthesized and funkified shit. If there were more higher quality bands doing disco, I would agree. But for every decent band there’s probably 10 one hit wonders and vocal disco “bands.”

house and punk really going out before jazz, disco, funk or metal??
I’m going to make the typical moron Inforoo argument for voting for punk. Some of it is really bad so the entire genre should suffer.
But honestly, punk likely has the highest percentage of strait dogshit bands of any genre left.
Not to mention posers and a mainstream foundation under a band that was nothing but marketing.
A lot of punk fans are insufferable as well. I know this from growing up around them.
i suppose youre right, i’m just thinking of like, post punk, emo and noise rock all being sort of derived from punk and i would hate to see all those genres go out now
