Real talk: Jamaicans offer you eggs with ketchup, and I stare at them and they have no idea that I would never put ketchup on eggs and you have perfectly good hot sauce right there.
I remember thinking the same thing until someone accidently made my egg sammich with Catsup.... And it was world changing
the only time i ever really enjoyed ketchup on eggs was this sandwich i got at a place in Beverly MA that had “herb ketchup” it was absolute delicious. though my go to is the maple aioli
It's gotta be on a sandwich though.. I wouldn't sit there and put ketchup on scrambled eggs, that's weird
I liked ketchup until I was about 14. Now it takes like vinegar mixed with tomato paste, which it basically, probably is. Fucking gross.
Yes plus salt and maybe cinnamon. And most sweet/brown bbq sauces have plenty of ketchup in them. Heinz is best and particularly good on french fries. Ketchup is also a key ingredient of the best dipping condiment, cocktail sauce. That reminds me I need to buy a fucking jar of horseradish. Also George Bar & Bistro in Pensacola makes a delicious curry ketchup.
Murso, one of my grandmas used the term catsup so I threw that out there. If I remember right from youth, the biggest 3 were Heinz, Hunts and Del Monte. Del Monte used the term "catsup" until the late 1980's. So it must have been the term she came up with as there were probably other brands that called it that too. According to The Kitchen Community:
The word 'Ketchup' derives from the Chinese word 'ke-tsiap', a name used to describe a fish sauce. Catsup is essentially a different interpretation of the same word.

Sweet Baby Ray's bbq is the tits. Yeah, bbqs have tomato paste/vinegar in them or some variant of a ketchup, but it is NOT ketchup. Same with cocktail sauce, it is MORE than ketchup, thus better. I do not do plain ketchup at all. If I am dipping, I am dipping in bbq, honey mustard or if I must, ranch. I am not a big fan of the ranch either though.

My daughter has the same philosophy as you. She loves BBQ sauce but won't go anywhere near ketchup.

I like to mix Sweet Baby Ray's with the chipotle-flavored Tabasco. The spice cuts the sweetness of the SBR and it makes a great brisket or steak sauce.
How did you even manage that? You aren't supposed to pour it in a bowl and eat it with a spoon, silly.
idk what happened. I was putting it on pork and chicken for a while. At some point I couldn’t stand it anymore. I don’t even like to smell it.
I like it, but I always thought it was kind of sugary. Preference for bottled at most grocery stores would be Austin's Own Medium Heat, and certainly if I'm in Texas, a big bottle of Rudy's Sause (white label) which is one of my personal favorites.
I heard Inforoo loved cramming this down their collective throats.
