#7: The Moment of Truth #6: The Search Is Over
"The Search Is Over" was Survivor's second Top 10 hit from their 1984 album Vital Signs. Former keyboardist/guitarist and co-songwriter Jim Peterik told Songfacts: "It wasn't about my life as much as a friend of mine who had a girlfriend – really a play pal throughout their growing up years – and never thought it could be anything more than that. It was looking him straight in the face that this was the girl of his destiny, and he looked everywhere to find that dream girl only to come back to the sandbox."
Fun fact: for the longest time, I had this whole Mandela Effect thing where I thought “Burning Heart” was the training montage music from Rocky IV. While it is on the soundtrack and is heard in the scene in which Rocky arrives in the USSR, the training montage song in question is actually “Hearts on Fire” by John Cafferty.
I used to love Eddie and the Cruisers. I don't care that JCBB are basically a discount Springsteen &the E Street Band.
Fuck yeah, Eddie and the Cruisers! The scene in which they put together “On the Dark Side” is a peak example of one of my favorite movies-about-music tropes: The, “Hey, did we just write our hit song?” scene.
