Also, if we’re judging videos based on a single iconic image that sort of transcends the rest of the video (which is what I assume was a big part of the reason people voted out “Baby One More Time” and “Nothing Compares 2 U”) then yeah “Closer” should also be in contention to be going out soon (and, let’s be real, “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)”).

I knew this long before I sat down and watched the video in full:
to be clear I didn’t say “Closer” was bad! Just that some standards were being applied unevenly.
i know you weren't saying it was bad, but you were saying if we eliminated other videos for one iconic image we should eliminate Closer as well, the inference being that Closer only had one iconic image. my argument is Closer has multiple iconic images, sewn together to create a video that is compelling from soup to nuts.

The same is true for all the other videos! Except for “Loser”, which has a lot of boring unrelated images.
