I've got some things going on in my life over the course of the next month and a half which are discouraging late nights for me, for the most part, and I have to part with my Father John Misty and Pavement tickets.
FJM can be transferred electronically, but the Pavement ticket (cheaper balcony seat near the back) is a paper ticket, so we'd need to meet in Cambridge/Somerville on Sunday afternoon for the handoff.
Between COVID, my advanced age, and a couple of other wild cards in my life right now, I'm more or less going to stop buying concert tickets for now. Most of the shows for which I bought tickets didn't sell out or even get close, so it might be a wiser move to wait until day/week of the show, and then just get a mobile ticket at the last minute if I want to go and can go at that time.
One of the situations I'm dealing with right now probably won't settle down until early November, so be on the lookout for more free tickets this fall.

Yeah, I've been trying to buy less in advance lately because I've noticed things haven't been selling out. And then snag stuff for cheap near the day of.
Though that didn't help me for when I got all impulsive earlier this year. Have def been taking L's on Stubhub lately.

I bought the ticket as a knee jerk reaction when the show was announced, but while I love Fear Fun, nothing I've heard off any of his subsequent albums has really engaged me.
This reminds me of when I was a teenager and my parents didn't allow me to go to shows (although I managed to sneak out for shows here and there), and then when they finally allowed me to go to concerts, I bought tickets to *everything*. COVID kept us from live music for so long that onsale announcements proved too tempting to resist.
Unless it's a really appealing show for me, I like the idea of hanging back and if health, weather, mood, etc. all align when the show date rolls around, getting my ticket at the last minute.
(BTW, thanks to the MBTA -- or more specifically, the person who threw himself onto the tracks at Andrew, shutting down the entire Red Line for around 45 minutes -- I wound up missing My Morning Jacket. Unfortunately, neither the band nor venue posted set times, so I only had the previous shows info on Setlist.fm to go on, and when I was still on the Harvard Square platform 30 min before their likely starting time with no idea when the next train was coming, I turned around and went home. If there was a consolation prize in all this, it was that their setlist wasn't nearly as appealing to me as the previous couple of shows at the start of the current leg of the tour.)

pavilion is the worst venue in Boston
i would say house of blues is a little bit worse due to its tackiness but its definitely up there. orpheum is terrible too but thankfully hasnt been booking shows much anymore

I figured it would be 8:30. When it was 8 pm and I was still on the platform, I gave up. (The first train after the delay did arrive 10 min earlier, but it was already uncomfortably packed at Harvard and with announcements that the trains would be sitting in stations for a while at many stops, the ride would have been intolerable for me. I thought that there might be another train arriving a few minutes later and that I could hop on and ride more comfortably on that less crowded train. It didn't show, however.)

The Orpheum has been run down and in need of major renovations for 20 years. Someone who works there once told me that they can't renovate due to the building's historical status. That makes no sense to me at all, because wouldn't you want to take necessary steps to preserve historical sites rather than watching them fall apart, piece by piece?

hijacking this, giving away one free floor ticket to Sunny Day Real Estate at HOB 10/3. doing night 2 of Flume instead. its reached $12 on stubhub so i’d rather give it away to someone here.

The Orpheum has been run down and in need of major renovations for 20 years. Someone who works there once told me that they can't renovate due to the building's historical status. That makes no sense to me at all, because wouldn't you want to take necessary steps to preserve historical sites rather than watching them fall apart, piece by piece?
That just feels like a cop out. Yeah, it's a little more difficult to do things when you're on the historical site list - but it can be done. Just feels like the owners don't want to invest in the building.
pavement secondary is still pretty high for orchestra and pit. there are a few cheaper balcony tix avail. i kno it sold out pretty fast though. last time they played boston they did an 8k venue so im sure the lack of interest is more due to lower overall interest in concerts
SDRE sold out here before the reschedule and resale was $80 Pavement resale is around $120
LiveNation/Ticketmaster only allow you to do resale through their sites if you give them a credit card number. They won't pay out to a debit card, so I can't resell (but I can transfer free of charge)

Well, it's owned by LiveNation, so it's probably a matter of wanting to shift as many shows as possible over to HoB and MGM Music Hall, due to what are likely higher alcohol sales at club/ballroom venues. Why invest in a venue that you aren't planning on using much?
It seems like there are more concerts at the MSG-owned Wang now than at the Orpheum.
