Hi, Havent been to Bonnaroo since 2013. Decided for a multitude of reasons that I have to go this year. How does VIP compare to GA these days? Is it still a bit of an upgrade and if so, how? Also, I had considered doing the Platinum thing, but wasnt sure on the ticket price for that. Can't find a solid number on that anywhere, and was curious as to if anyone here know more about that as well.
I haven't done VIP in a minute, but I know that it used to be and a few did it last year that loved it. snowman I am pretty sure did VIP. He might have some insight for you.

I’ve only done VIP, so I don’t have anything to compare it to. I will say that the easy access back and forth between camp and Centeroo, the absence of lines getting in and out at the beginning and end of the festival, and the availability of AC breaks whenever you need them will keep me in VIP every time I go. If you’re an old guy like me, it’s totally worth it.
The campground is definitely better in GA than vip. The vibe is just more fun. But the location of VIP is impossible to beat we could go from Centerville to camp and back in no time at all. We timed it out actually we we're able to leave right before Japanese breakfast walk to our campsite grab a beer at camp, drink it and get back in less than 15 minutes. Location is also great because it's right near where in the woods so it was really easy to hit up center and then if we wanted to go see some dance music we could stop by camp grab a few beers and head over to where in the woods. We spent a lot of time there in the mornings because it was so shady and a fun place to just hang out and it was really close to VIP camping. VIP also had an awesome drag brunch Sunday morning which was actually one of the highlights of the weekend for us. We rarely used the AC spots cuz it really wasn't that hot this year I didn't think but we did enjoy that we never had to wait in line to go to the bathroom or grab a beer inside scenario. Overall I don't know if the value is there because it's kind of expensive but the location did make it great to get in and out of center room however because it was attendance was so low this year I don't know that it was that much of a benefit over much of GA however some people did end up walking a long way to get to you where in the woods etc and VIP sticks you right between where in the woods and centeroo. Stream of consciousness voice to text as im leaving WSMFP

Well heck yeah. Is there any difference as far as the size of your camp footprint compared to GA? Are the sites bigger, or less "competitive" for space than GA?

same size footprint. they had paint in the grass outlining the footprint. it was run just like GA, first come first served as far as location within VIP campgrounds. we got there mid afternoon thursday and were some of the last people to set up camp, so we had so much space just over from us. giant field where we threw the frisbee and stuff.
I forgot to mention the showers - free showers with hot water. never waited in line. VIP bathrooms also had flushable toilets in the campground and centeroo. we also found out that there was a back entrance to the VIP hill overlooking the What stage, so we were able to bring a whole cooler of beer and snacks into centeroo to watch shows on the mainstage.
overall, i loved all the perks and would much prefer it over GA, but I don't think we're gonna do it again next year unless the lineup is absolutely great and there's a threat of a sell out. I think with lower attendance numbers the VIP perks really drop in value.

Yeah, considering the last Roo I went to, I was in my late 20s, as opposed to looking like I'll almost be 39 for my next one, Im not necessarily interested in the long walks, or long wait times into Centaroo.
Im used to camping with a large group, but will more than likely go to this one solo. The camp vibe will be missed, but considering most of my old folks I used to go with have "retired" from Roo, that wont be a problem.
I’ve never done VIP but just waiting for the right Roo to send it to VIP. But I’m scared once I go VIP I’ll never go back to GA lol
My first two roo's were VIP and then we did groop this year. There were small things I missed, but overall the only thing I REALLY missed was the super close walk into Centeroo. And maybe the morning soundchecks, but it wasn't really bad.

The long walks don’t bother me. It’s usually a nice time to have a couple drinks or walking back at night is always nice to level out some haha. I would love to be able to be so close to WITW though. Only made it once in the past two years. Sound checks would be cool , I didn’t think about that perk. The flushable potties in the camping area would be next level though. Gotta love a flushable

Funny....same w me.
Ive been to 11 Bonnaroo since 2007 ( only skipped 16/17/18), and I went VIP my first 2 years, bc my best friend said he wouldn't go unless we did VIP.
In 2009, he couldn't go, so my girlrfriend at the time said she wouldn't go unless we did GA.
Then talked best friend into going GA the following year.
The private entrance and the closeness/proximity to CenterRoo is amazing, esp when you are camping in BFE in GA.
But it still is not enough to justify the price difference. The vibe is better in GA camping.
With that said, I am celebrating my 50th birthday there next year, and the people I invite will only come if we all do VIP, bc...well, they/we are old!
IF its close to a sell-out next year, do VIP.
IF its not, do GA plus if the walk is a concern, or GA, if its not.

Drake & Odessa soundchecks won’t hit the same as Paul McCartney or Tom Petty

You are not wrong. We woke up to MMJ, that was pretty magical.
