Metallica Foo Fighters Lizzo Odesza Karol G Lil Uzi Vert Alanis Morisette Fred Again..
My current guess. I'd like a surprising number one like a Garth Brooks or such, but I'm not holding out.
I like. Metallica feels like they've been hiding in plain sight forever now, kinda like RHCP last year, so that wouldn't surprise me.
IF Odesza is 4th (not infeasible imo), then we could be cooking with some of the other open spots in the 1-3 range. If they do in fact close Amex tho, the top lines gonna look really tough...
I'm going to assume Jessie Ware is playing this since she didn't add a second Chicago show which would have been during Weekend 1. She also has nothing booked during Weekend 2.

Good catch on the lack of another Chicago date. Also super curious where she's billed...last time she played a big US fest was Coachella 2018 when she was 18th on her day, but.a lot's changed since

will do some horrible things to get her in the l'imperatrice slot or, you know what, fuck it. let her close barton springs.
Aerosmith officially out. Thank God, but I have to ask; who's realistically left at this point? The pool seems awfully small for a big #1 legacy act.
Metallica or its Foos/no true legacy act. Highly doubt we get a random name from the clouds at the 11th hour like the Jay Z/Paul/GnR/George run we had. Bruce ain't happening...

Not a knock at you but I've kind of wondered why Foos aren't more universally accepted as a legacy act. Maybe it's because they still feel relevant in some ways and are very active but their first big hits were in the 90s and they've been a band for almost 30 years now. I feel like Pearl Jam gets thrown into this category and they are only slightly older than Foos and have also stayed somewhat relevant into the 2000s
100% could see the ACL booking team looking at them as the "legacy act"

Karol G again? Yuck. Rosalía save us.
Unless they got extremely lucky with when they booked her like Lolla probably did, Karol G just announced some stadium shows which I would think would put her out of the price range

Oh sorry I guess i didn't make it clear, but what I meant was it would be Foos as the legacy act or none at all.
I think Foos are "legacy," to all your points...but I don't think they're in the true classics tier as some of the prior #1s
Anyone see any realistic chance of getting Fred again or Skrillex? I know Fred has said he’s only doing two American shows this year but idk I’m still hoping
As for skrillex he hasn’t been booked yet so I’m hoping since he came here in the past he’ll think about coming once more as a headlining act

Probably not Skrillex, but the Fred 2 fest thing only applied to fests in the Summer. I'd wager good odds he's at ACL considering the Lolla booking.

Respectfully, why in the world we go from having 2 legacy acts a year to none at all? Seems like that would be an incredibly bizarre choice, especially considering ACL caters to that demo heavily imho.
I wouldn't count out an out-there name this year personally either. I don't think one year off beat after consistently booking massive and interesting acts for a number one is enough to say that it is for sure the direction the fest is taking personally, but maybe I'm a bit more hopeful.

Yeah, i just checked, and he's confirmed for a small 2 festival called "iiipoints" in Miami at the end of the month of October, which leaves an opening in his current schedule whilst having to be in the US by the end of the month, and leaving him open for both weekends of ACL so now I'm a bit more confident ACL is already in the talks if the money is right for him lol.

I would say Fred Again is more likely. The early report was false because he's on iiiPoints lineup, which is after ACL, so I would say possible but leaning likely due to his billing on Lolla.

Oh shit guys new egghead just dropped and taking my neighborhood fest down with strays
Unless something leaked and I missed it, MMJ didn't announce any new tour dates today. They just added openers to their already announced tour, which that tour makes them certainly possible for ACL but far from confirmed
Perfume Genius is possible too with a random Oct 4 date in LA.
This year seems to be shaping up nicely. I will definitely go both days of whatever day Jessie Ware is playing. Please god let her play an Emos aftershow too.
