Funny to think that at one point DMB was a #2 at ACL and two years later Coldplay was only a Honda closer! Times sure have change for all parties involved...
I unironically think both would be good bookings but yeah neither fit the mold of what present-day ACL is trying to do.
You bring up a great point, what is present day ACL trying to do? Mix in some country with some pop? Bring back RHCP every 5 years? Barely appeal to the EDM crowd?

They’ve never held shows at DKR Stadium, right? Always thought that was weird. Although, doesn’t the COTA track basically convert to a stadium like ambiance for those F1 shows?

I think the only artist that has done that for a tour has been Rolling Stones. Just easier to route through Dallas/Houston because everyone in south Texas will travel out anyway.

Only seeing half of Depeche Mode and then finishing with Muse in 2013 remains the dumbest thing I've ever done at a music festival. (I can justify splitting Jack/Neil 2012 at least)
Skrillex would make a lot of sense. I somehow don't see ACL booking Odesza, who'd definitely be an Amex closer. I can totally see a Lizzo v Skrillex Saturday night.

Id much rather have Skrillex than Odesza. Odesza is such a mid booking and their live show has basically been the same for the past 8 years.
