You're right, I yet again am making the mistake of having high hopes for this festivals.
I think they'd be the first ever EDM act on Amex, headliner or undercard...never thought I'd see the day
Didn't notice until now but if you squint, you can see some Green Day potential: ACL would be 2/3 of the weekends between Louder Than Life in Louisville and WWWY in Vegas. But I just don't see ACL going for last year's circuit nor F1's sloppy seconds.
I know Foos/Kendrick/Odesza trio feels inevitable but I can't help to think about how this time last year Dua/Green Day/J Cole felt like shoe-ins, just to go 0/3.
If anything I think they're all out :/. I could convince myself that bc of PLANES Metallica could do Friday at ACL still but ehhhh not looking great IMO.

All the chatter I've been hearing the past month makes it very much seem like this time it's actually legit. It all sounds a lot more concrete than the past two years. Just haven't seen any hard evidence so tough to convince my close companions I'm not just wearing the tin foil hat this time around.
