Also - if I was mafia, why wouldn't I just come down with a vote? I have the deciding vote right now and it is clear that only one of you and Rummy can be mafia.
In the event that you were mafia, you would wait for a bit to make it look like you were struggling to decide as a towny with no information.
Sorry to ask other people to do the work for me, but Jortles can you list the posts that would lead the town towards Mafia and away from town in the event you were whacked? What are your breadcrumbs?
Also why not move off LLL when Tranter voted for her D1?
I then moved right back to Jaz to allow him to have time to come in and vote for Tranter to even things up and I was hopeful that someone else would but a kill shot on tranter so I could remain unsuspicious to mafia since tranter was my given name.
Just want to note that Tranter noticed what I did and says Clever. He and I would have NEVER been so stupid to congratulate each other on a move of manipulation like this if we were mafia together.
I feel like you guys are just trying to get rid of jaz because they’re not active
I just saved Jaz.
His lack of appearance closing in on two deadlines now has me seriously wondering if that would happen if he was mafia. In fact, I feel pretty certain that it wouldn't happen if he was mafia.
So if he isn't going to come in to save himself and nobody is playing the game besides you, I'll go ahead and make the decision.
Jortles > Tranter
Then when I realized Jaz wasn't going to come save himself and we'd lose another exile, I decided that the best path was for me to make up a reason why I thought Jaz was now Town. And I made a massive move that changed the game by putting Tranter, a person I knew was mafia, into the exile position. My calculus here was that if I revealed at this moment, Id be giving town pretty weak dick information: Tranter was mafia and Cum was town. If I got tranter exiled and they whacked me for it, the only missing information that town would have was that Cum was town. She was playing that suspiciously, so it was worth it to go for it. If I stayed on Jaz, I quite simply didn't think it was worth it for us to waste another precious exile. It was a risky play, but it ultimately was worth it.

on the one hand, I like your move/vote, but on the other I am not convinced that Jaz being inactive discounts him from being mafia. I don’t really have a read on him one way or another rn, and while I do think the “susness” of his moves has been exaggerated by a couple people, this seems out of character for you to suddenly be like “well, this person didn’t show up, they must be town.” We know that isn’t always how it plays out.
This to me was an interesting post from Rummy. She tries to softly distance from Tranter but still concern trolls about my move. You can tell in the tone of this post that she isn't happy about what happened even though she offers the fake caveat that shes happy about the move.
He got really weird this round and Im pretty sure I can’t change my vote after the runoff starts? Lol
yeah if you weren’t sus til this Round then fair enough.
What do you think of both jim & Samp being on Jaz Rn? I feel like this could be better as Tranter/Samp tbh; I just don’t think jaz is mafia
Once she realizes that things are going in the wrong direction, she takes liking to the idea of getting you involved instead of Jaz. She was hoping that maybe the group would follow and eventually exile you instead of her teammate, tranter. It makes even more sense if Jaz is mafia with her, but that piece of the equation isn't even necessary because shes already locked in on saying she isn't suspicious of Jaz, so she could go hypothetically ultimately vote for you if the opportunity presented itself.
Also - if I was mafia, why wouldn't I just come down with a vote? I have the deciding vote right now and it is clear that only one of you and Rummy can be mafia.
In the event that you were mafia, you would wait for a bit to make it look like you were struggling to decide as a towny with no information.
No reason to fake indecision at this point though. You and Rummy are clearly at a standoff and have created a dynamic that encourages us to vote for one of you (and seems one of you is maf). There are plausible explanations for a vote either way. If I were mafia, I could just jump on one of those two options and save my maf teammate, no one would be that surprised at whatever I chose, and then the game would be over after we whacked a second townie.
Also I think you (steponsampras ) may be lacking some appreciation for how important the inspector role is in these games. Its a major responsibility for inspector to win the game for town. So to have my efforts get thwarted by my teammates that are supposed to fall in line is of course extremely annoying.
And to be fair I do bring this upon myself each time. I purposefully went hard against LLL because my theory is that it is more important to survive the first night and then potentially the second night if you miss the first night guess like I did.
I then went on to vote for Cum out of the gate on Day 2 who I had just been told was Town by the Ref. I did that because I guessed a townie and knew I was going to try to survive to day 3. Voting for a townie would throw mafia off my scent and it partially worked. But then halfway through the day I considered revealing If I couldn't get Tranter to be exiled. So I played the biggest role in making sure he was exiled all while still avoiding being whacked by mafia because of my earlier work of going hard at LLL, voting Cum etc...
THIS. MAKES. NO. SENSE. IF. YOU'RE. INSPECTOR.
if tranter was your given as you claim, then LLL's role was a question mark to you day 1. she could've been mafia for all you knew at that point.
town, please note the contradictions in his claims. he was "trying to stay hidden" so he....went hard on someone DAY 1 whose role was a question mark to him? that is beyond risky, and dumb. and makes NO sense if trying to "make it to d5 for the first time as inspo." she easily could've been maf in his scenario he's spun (only having tranter's name at that time), then jortles could've been whacked n1 for his pushing on her hard, and town would have NOTHING.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

I've just explained my inspector style which is always the way I play. No breadcrumbs. Which means I don't get whacked but I also have a harder time convincing town.
But, I did stray from this in the most significant vote change in the game when I changed from you to Tranter on Day two to ensure that he was exiled. I just detailed my thought process through that entire move thoroughly in the post above, which I hope you'll take a moment to read.

Town wouldn't have nothing. They would have exiled LLL. But that's beside the point. The additional key layer to the strategy is that even if LLL was Mafia, mafia would say to themselves "there's no way an inspector would be so obvious about it." So there is an extremely small chance of me being whacked on night one when using this. Either im on a townie or im too obvious on a mafia. Of course, you know this.

If Jaz was town and you were mafia, you'd need to maintain a lack of suspicion from him because he could switch to rummy and save the game for town. We are kind of getting into a rabbit hole / tangent here, but there is absollutely reason for whoever mafia is to not look suspicious at this moment.

Jaz - Any response or thoughts on the posts and explanation that Jortles provided?
I am, but don’t really have a response to Jortles. I think he’s more likely to be lying and if he is inspector, hopefully he’ll start to learn that his way of playing the role isn’t helpful.

So you'll choose to ignore that I provided detailed evidence of me being the primary influence in having my given name exiled on Day 2. You asked for that evidence. I provided it. You're obviously being unreasonable here.

Extension granted until 10pm EST. This is a hard deadline - if there are no vote switches or extension requests, the round ends at 10pm whether I'm here or not.
Jortles > Dan Cincy > Jortles Rummy > Cincy Jaz > Samp Cum > Jortles Dan > Cum Dan > Cum > Cincy Samp > Dan Jaz > Samp > Cincy Cum > Jortles > Rummy Dan > Cum > Cincy > Samp Rummy > Cincy > null Dan > Cum > Cincy > Samp > Rummy Rummy > Cincy > null > Dan
Ref's Notes
Hard deadline of 10pm EST on Tuesday, December 13, extensions will be granted freely and also at the ref's discretion.
At same work event as Samp. Appreciate the extension but can’t guarantee I’ll be able to really come back to this before 10p. Not sure what else I can say at this point though, regardless. If you reread this game w the notion that Jortles is inspo, alongside the claims he’s making about his strategy for it here now in D4 post (fake) reveal… it just literally doesn’t add up, and I hope y’all can see between the lack of logic + the delay in reveal d3 + the fact that if Jortles has one teammate alive and they kill me here, I win…. Yeah, it isn’t so low stakes to exile me here
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
The "clever" line feels genuine. Also if Jortles was Mafia there's no incentive to save me, unless it's just to get me on his side later in the game (a distinct possibility). Coulda just let me die though.
I would like an extension to give Samp (and myself) more opportunity to read over things and vote.
It's still hard to get over Jortles waiting until when he did in D3 to reveal. And then surviving a whack. Anybody can say whatever they want but those are both kinda huge.

Extension granted. We will go to noon tomorrow, it's a hard deadline. I hope this doesn't come across as overly harsh but no excuses, get a vote in by noon tomorrow.

And Jaz there’s nothing I can do about them saving me. You have to admit that the “meta” in the last year or two has changed from “always play to win” to “sometimes we sacrifice our chances to make it more fun.” That’s what they are doing here
It's still hard to get over Jortles waiting until when he did in D3 to reveal. And then surviving a whack. Anybody can say whatever they want but those are both kinda huge.
can you explain why you care when I revealed?
Because it reads like waiting to make sure someone else didn’t reveal so in the case you’re faking, you’re less likely to have to defend against a counter reveal.
Also idc about the meta, I’m going to assume Mafia is more interested in winning. Seems pretty straightforward there.

The meta would indicate that people are more likely to do something but ok.
I am inspector and I wanted to stay hidden until day 4 since I missed my votes. Once I had some pressure on me it wasn’t worth it anymore.
If you’re town, you are trying to go all galaxy brain here. You have an inspector reveal in front of you. Just take it and let’s win.
I’m feeling pretty good about you being mafia though. Guessing you 100% in the next night. If you are paying as little attention as you have been (out in the field, like rummy), you shouldn’t feel like this is your game to make a big play against the inspector. Additionally, your comment about “Jortles play style isn’t helpful” just isn’t how townies think. They just try to win regardless of their concerns about how their inspector chooses to play. Or the tone I’m taking.
That’s dumb as fuck. Of course I want to win. But to me you’re not the Inspector, you’re potentially the Inspector. And if that is indeed your role, part of your job is to play in a way that makes your claim more believable when you do reveal. So yes how you play is incredibly germane to your trustworthiness and thus the outcome of the game.

Idk the way you are talking about it smacks of “I’m going to teach Jortles a lesson here” which doesn’t feel townish.
You also haven’t really put forward who you think was inspector if I’m not. None of it really makes sense like you aren’t trying to solve the puzzle that you’ve created by not believing me.

steponsampras No pressure or anything but if you vote for me you're killing inspector and town likely loses. If you vote for rummy you are killing mafia.
