The reaction from Jortles to cum getting whacked was uh… kinda over the top.
I get why you could say Rummy is maf based on the whack, but it seems so obvious that it would be an extremely risky move from her. Like Jortles said himself, could make sense to leave me and cincy in the game with the hope that we’ll pack a bad move. Tbh the fact that Jortles jumped so quickly on rummy - and especially with the added lock - makes it seem like he was really eager to control the interpretation of events… maybe sway a couple of newer townies?
Im not sure if you have a full understanding of how this game is played based on this post.
I have the inspector role. I get to guess one players identity each night. During the most recent night, I guessed Rummy and our referee told me Rummy is mafia.
That is why I “aggressively” jumped on rummy. Because I know for a fact she is mafia.
Now the only part left in the game is getting you knuckleheads to believe the truth. And it’s always the most annoying thing in the world.
hey steponsampras what it really means is: our real inspector is dead (either MD or teddy). mafia waited through almost the ENTIRETY of day 3 (normally if inspo is alive d3, they come out either beginning of day or after a few votes roll in to give context for the info they have to reveal to town) to make sure inspo was good and dead, then they opted to fake when they were confident at that point that it was safe to do so with real inspo being out of the game.
now jortles is portraying a fake scenario in which he "guesses me" and is "told by referee" that im mafia. hes right in that that's what inspector gets to do in the game: guess at Night if one player is mafia. the issue here is, he didn't do that because he's not inspector, he's mafia.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
fuck i cant believe i didnt see this til just now. i mean, jortles is the type who would fake as mafia when they're sure inspo is dead just out of hubris and for the fun of it, but im realizing now--no, there was specific utility in it.
am quite sure it's got to be him + 1 teammate left. even once jortles "came out" with my name today and i knew he was mafia at that point, i sorta figured tranter was his teammate after all because it was easy as hell to name a dead teammate as given. but that exact same logic applies to if LLL is his teammate, also dead.
jortles went hard on LLL from the start of d1. distancing, duh.
now if jortles was really inspector "trying to make it to d4/d5 for the very first time," would he seriously so carelessly come for someone THAT hard on d1? if he was inspo with tranter's name but didn't know any other info at that time, he would be taking a huge risk d1 to be so outward in suspicions of someone. let's say in a different hypothetical scenario that he WAS real inspo and had tranter's name but LLL was an unknown role to him at that point...if she was mafia in that scenario, he could've easily gotten whacked. sure doesn't sound like the game play of someone trying to make it to DAY FIVE as an inspector.
jortles keeps going to this thing of "why would i fake? i wouldn't need to." yeah, he wouldnt do it if he was the only mafia left OR if all three were left. but if it is him + one other with one teammate dead, and he comes out with "dan and rummy are absolutely most sus"... Dan is exiled, then over the Night he "guesses me" and "I'm mafia." all he has to do is convince town he's telling the truth, i get exiled, and mafia wins right then & there.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
This is that tally for D1R3. What interests me here is that if Tranter and Rummy were both Mafia, these moves only make sense if LLL were town. If it were LLL/Rummy/Tranter, I don't see two Mafia having revotes and then only voting for teammates and not the sole townie in the runoff. But on the flipside, if it were Tranter/Jortles/LLL, Tranter voting for LLL is the best move because it allows him to create some distance since at least one Mafia would be moving forward into the runoff regardless. Of course, LLL could be town. So could Tranter, for that matter (Jortles/Cum/Cincy is not out of the realm of possibility).
I'm very tired and this is all I can look back to right now. My initial inclination isn't to believe Jortles, so that's where my votes going to go for right now. Open to hear thoughts but I want to get a vote down since idk when I'll be able to come back to the game tomorrow.

Jaz > Jortles
jortles /cum/cincy? Are you saying the most outlandish things possible just to see what you can get away with?

Yes and of course, a real inspector reveal happens in 85% of games. A fake reveal from mafia the comes before or without a real inspector reveal has happened in only a handful of the tons of games I’ve played.
Then also went and voted null first because they had to figure out the plan
So Out in the Field? i literally KNOW you know im in DC on a work trip rn.
im town and saw a reveal come through when i knew i didnt really have the time to properly look it over for a while; i wanted to go ahead and null my vote to move off of who was being pinpointed by supposed inspector as town. seems a pretty fair move, no?
my gut said go dan if cinci is town, but i wanted to give things another look when i actually got back to my hotel and had the chance. i did so, and went with dan after all. which now im thinking was a huge mistake, for obvious reasons.
it doesn’t matter. Out in the field is always your tell and it is again. I was on a plane twice yesterday while all this was going on and didn’t feel the need to make excuses for why I wasn’t present. You’re so lucky you have 2 newer players to take advantage of.
think long and hard because if you vote for me, town loses. Same with samp.
It’s now pretty obvious that when tranter and jaz were heading for the final runoff on day 2, rummy wanted to change it from tranter / jaz to tranter / samp because samp was the only one of the three who wasn’t mafia.

It’s great to see jaz also out in the field and unable to attend to the game. Yet has time to make up a worthless analysis involving LLL.
New players: it’s going to feel way more comfortable to vote for me in this situation. If either of you votes for me, you’ll learn a quick lesson here in game one that you should never for one second consider going with what feels easy in this game.
For town to win, both of you must vote rummy along with your inspector.
You can ask me any question you want. Again I’m not addressing Jaz her because he’s obviously not even curious about what the Inspector has been thinking. Hasn’t even addressed me at all. He’s extremely likely to be the third. Jaz is a very good player so there is no shot in hell he’s playing this atrociously as town.

Wanna bet
I know behind the scenes you three assholes are laughing about the fact that this is the exact same role combination of the Rooloo game where I was inspector and you three were mafia. Very annoying.
If you are town, I’m stunned. Why tf wouldn’t you engage me about my reveal and attempt to not be the reason we lose?

So maybe I should vote for Jaz? Lol would be hilarious if both of you and Rummy were maf. If so - bravo to y'all! I'm feeling pretty good about the idea that Cincy is town like me. So either Jaz is one of the two remaining mafia or he's just town. His getting voted off only has upside. If he's mafia then we've gotten rid of one of the two remaining mafia. If he's town, then someone else gets whacked but that still leaves 2-1 town and we're no worse off than before. Am I wrong on this?

If I'm following your logic, then you're wrong only if Jortles is maf. Which is still a possibility.
I could see town winning with a rummy exile.
I'm thinking about it this way. If Jortles isn't lying, then Rummy is mafia. We know that. No sense in voting for jaz if we're going to side with Jortles at all. I say we bc I also feel good about you being town and I'm fucked as hell if you're not.
Jortles and Rummy are going after each other too hard too late in the game for them to both be maf imo. So we have to side with one of them.
I'm ignoring most of the posts directed at me and just looking at how they're interacting with others, and this is where my gut has led me. For now

You are somewhat wrong on this. If we were to exile Jaz and he is town, town would lose the game... if you are mafia. The only way that the collective Town can be certain to advance to day 5 is to exile Rummy here. Then I will guess Jaz over the course of the night and I'll have perfect information on how to win the game if Mafia decides to keep me around. However, if the two remaining Townies (Cinci and either you or Jaz) show on Day 4 that you aren't buying Mafia's bullshit, they might give up on trying to frame me and just have you cincy and Jaz duke it out on Day 5, which would mean it would come down to Cincy choosing between you and Jaz.

I literally am in the bathroom during an all day meeting reply quickly and also ask for extension pls bc I cannot reply really st all til 4pm and bitch at me for “being in field” but it isn’t my tell, it is literally the case rn
But no. If town exiles me, and you and a teammate are still alive, town immediately loses.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't quite follow how I'd be wrong if Jortles was mafia. So if you and I both voted for Jaz the count would look like this:
This would force Jortles to vote for Jaz in the runoff. Jaz is gone at that point and one of us gets whacked. But we're still assured of two town vs one mafia even after the whack, and the whack could provide some information that we don't have right now.
I'd love to believe Jortles, and at first I did, but his extraness (the dramatic late reveal, the instant lock on rummy, the town put downs, etc.) just casts way too much doubt for me on what he's saying. If he was really inspector and just went about his business and did what he's done without all the extra stuff, I'd be way more likely to believe him. Just seems too eager. And this is a hard decision for me because, even with all that, I still have to acknowledge the fact that he could actually be inspector. I do have some belief that this could just be Jortles being Jortles.

Capital Cincy - I hate to repeat something so obvious, but if it is in fact Samp who is mafia and not Jaz, we would lose. Even though Jaz seems more suss at the moment, there is a 50% chance its samp if there are 2 mafia left.

steponsampras how can you possible mention the instant lock on Rummy again? As if its dramatic for someone to instantly lock on the person they know for a fact is Mafia. Please answer this.

I'm just doing my job in knocking down any misleading narratives. I'm pumped that you're currently making the right play.

Jaz I hate doing this because I do think it's likely you and not Samp, but I have to plead with you in the event that you are town. I would hate to lose to Samp without every making an effort with you.
If you are Town, what do you need from me? Ask me anything or for any clarification. If you care to win as a Towny, please go through this exercise.

Ok that is fair. I apologize. You're right - if you guessed and were told Rummy was mafia then it wouldn't be dramatic to lock. Still a lot of drama in the other posts though...

I'm being dramatic in the context of the game, because it is in fact the most dramatic turning point of the game. The game will be decided based on my reveal and the town following through. This is the exact thing to be passionate about in Mafia games.

I'm town, and I think it is pretty obvious I am town at this point. You in fact made the point about me being town not that long ago. I've been saying Jaz looks squirrely for a while now. And, I'm following your lead here - you just pointed out that Jaz looks suss.

Also - if I was mafia, why wouldn't I just come down with a vote? I have the deciding vote right now and it is clear that only one of you and Rummy can be mafia.

Also I think you (steponsampras) may be lacking some appreciation for how important the inspector role is in these games. Its a major responsibility for inspector to win the game for town. So to have my efforts get thwarted by my teammates that are supposed to fall in line is of course extremely annoying.
And to be fair I do bring this upon myself each time. I purposefully went hard against LLL because my theory is that it is more important to survive the first night and then potentially the second night if you miss the first night guess like I did.
I then went on to vote for Cum out of the gate on Day 2 who I had just been told was Town by the Ref. I did that because I guessed a townie and knew I was going to try to survive to day 3. Voting for a townie would throw mafia off my scent and it partially worked. But then halfway through the day I considered revealing If I couldn't get Tranter to be exiled. So I played the biggest role in making sure he was exiled all while still avoiding being whacked by mafia because of my earlier work of going hard at LLL, voting Cum etc...
