gonna take a deep stab at this...
Samp is not necessarily new to mafia but is new to inforoo mafia. If he was inspector his only frame of reference of playing with inspector is Jortles last game, which was definitely a risky thing he did and the rest of the game sort of hung on the verge of that. So the alternative to that would be going hard at the given early. if that's the case it was almost certainly Jorts.
If he was laying subtle hints he interacted more with rummy, and browell and myself (but I'm not mafia!) called out as Cincy voters.
so I think the runoff should be those three with a rummy/jortles taking being the final two makes the most sense.
I’m with you on this tbh. Browell’s overexplanation voting for me just now (it doesn’t take some roundabout logic to see why one might throw a vote on me here after this whack so his depth of explanation feels off) makes me feel good about it being him in the runoff along w Jortles. Obviously I would prefer a two way final of them both, not me in it, bc I am not mafia but re: what you just laid out, I’d prefer Browell going forward over you

yeah the cum post was the only thing I noted as even remotely interesting from Samp if Samp was a more seasoned player. I’m fine with ppl being on us (logically… not actually fine with it) since samp is new and you could imagine mafia expecting more basic play out of him as inspector.

He said it was a joke but it wasn’t funny. He was forcing a weird post to try to fit in as “just one of the homies playin a lil loosey goosey mafia.”

first bold: hadn't noticed it being THAT often, but im just looking at what all could be out there right now. i didnt quote that saying "oh ok, we've got it figured out. jortles protected teammate browell." i do think browell seems off, pretty separate of whatever your role may be

Just think like why would a newbie be concerned about balancing out a players move like that? It’s the perfect amount of blatant but not so ridiculously blatant (locking on the actual person) for mafia to get scared and whack someone.
So here’s how I interpret the Samp lock on me to be a hint towards Cum.
Cum and Samp are on Dan and Cinci, I was set to drop out.
Cum locks and says “let’s get this moving quicker.”
Samp, with Cums name, sees that as Cum getting antsy to have her potential teammate (me), to dropout of the runoff.
So he switches to me and locks to prevent that from happening.
He then goes on to say he was balancing Cums lock… I think this is either exactly what he meant or exactly how mafia could have interpreted it.
Actually feeling pretty decent about this the more I think about it.

if you look at the sequence he had already a point to call out people on Cincy. and in his response to cum after mentioning balancing out he still refers back to Cincy.
if he had cums name there is no need to call out the votes on Cincy prior to her voting for Cincy

The second reason is that an overly chummy rummy is a rummy that’s trying to appear as helpful to town as possible as to better steer them in all different directions away from her mafia teammates (and herself, obviously). totally disagree about the balance interpretation for the reasons I’ve already laid out, which were completely accurate and not revisionist at all.

the explanation was simply so i didn’t throw a vote out there with nothing, didn’t really think that was a bad thing:
jortles reads for me are difficult, especially when the whole sharpshooter thing comes into play like this recent post about me/cum/cinci
i feel similarly to you that my two to look at are you and jortles, and i threw the vote on you for that reason and also to see your reaction (which makes me feel a bit better as of now). jortles fierce activity to start off this day worries me a bit
