Ahh this is a common misconception for a youngster such as yourself. It doesn't matter whether or not Mafia was accurate with their assessment. The only thing that matters is that they (95% of the time) TRIED to kill the inspector. So analyzing why Mafia thought Potent was inspector carries the same weight regardless of Potent's actual role.
So again, for what reason do you think mafia whacked potent?
This to me points to Maddog and to Otter / Theo to a lesser extent. Could view it as Potent wanted to see if his given (Maddog) would vote for Otter or Theo. Or he just wanted to see if an unknown (Maddog) would vote for his given (otter or theo).
He took longer than usual to compile this. Would surprise me if mafia was freaked by this. Maybe Samp because he is the only crossover from the two lists.
This was also interesting and called back to the first set of posts. Seems like Potent REALLY wanted to see who Maddog would choose there. Potent is also sounding like Maddog should have voted for Theo here based on Maddog's own logic. Makes me think more about Theo in addition to Maddog.
this feels like a pretty forced connection to me, he moved because Samp made a vote that forced Maddog to vote 1 person so he switched so Maddog could choose between me and otter
this was my take as well, but didn’t have a better theory to offer.
my vote had nothing to do with the whack. Cinci made a comment earlier about how I didn’t like the then-current runoff, which I was a part of. It struck me at the time and I don’t have a better read right now. If accurate, it would also support my hypothesis that mafia was not concerned with the run-off at the time, which is also something I floated earlier (probably confirmation bias). I also got misled by the whack in the last game, so am trying to be aware of that as well.

Great start so far with 0/2 people paying attention to the most important clue we've been given.

It's hilarious to me that our town is now in a spot where, when one person tries to solve the puzzle, it's suspicious.

I invite u to think about the times you've been maf and recall whether or not people played 100% according to the meta.

I don’t feel confident, but since you’re putting me on the spot, I think it’s probably a direct or misdirect towards Theo.

That doesn't apply here. Correct me if I'm wrong but were saying it's hard to trace a whack of a vanilla towny. You said that as if it mattered that Potent was a vanilla towny. My response was to correct you, because whether or not Potent was vanilla or inspector, the ability for other townies to interpret the whack is exactly the same.
If last game taught us anything is that over reliance on the whack anyway can be disastrous. I’m fine with my vote on samp due to my gut feeling on him

Of someone they know is vanilla towny at worst and inspector at best. I really don't think my line of thinking is that crazy and your response makes me think my vote might be in the right spot.
Every day 2 is "oh man who is implicated in the whack." So after one round, when no one can really be sure who inspo is, it makes sense that maf would whack someone that mentioned a ton of people and did basically nothing else because it would be hard to track back.

Jortles, I’m having a real hard time thinking through the argument you’re making here. I’m open to it, so help me if you can. Maybe I’m just dumb.
I understand your point about potent wanting to see what MD would do in voting between otter and Theo. So he picks otter and that frees up me and cum to vote between otter, MD, and tranter. Cum goes MD, and I went tranter. This frees up MD, tranter, and cincy to vote. MD and tranter do as expected and vote for each other and that leaves cincy with the deciding vote. MD complains about this, but this was only ever very indirectly in his control. So I don’t get potent’s last comment that you point to as making a lot of sense. I feel like maybe he missed some of how out of control of the situation MD was when he made it. But am I missing something?

not really. I interpreted the whack correctly last game. Last game did teach us that we can’t just let mafia skate by without offering any thoughts or contributions whatsoever

You didn’t interpret the whack correctly you just guessed right lol

right right you never whack someone with reasoning. You know I don’t believe that

You are not missing anything, and in fact I missed that last part as well.
So potents call out of Maddog didn’t make sense. Maddog responded appropriately and Potent never followed up.
I’m still inclined to believe this interaction tipped off mafia in some way (it’s really the only content potent provided).
But trying to think about what that means more. It could simply be that mafia spotted someone you made a nonsensical post and never admitted to it which made him suss (which would give us no direction based on the whack). It could still be that Maddog or Theo or otter found it odd that potent was incorrectly making a claim with their name in his mouth.
That does hurt that theory a bit though. Going to leave my vote on Theo for now but might change if another human playing the game provides a reason to vote for someone else.
