While the Fisher + Chris Lake outdoor confirmation is a strike against this theory, with the relative lack of bigger rappers this year and the heavier electronic focus, maybe Porter, Chem Bros, Prydz, Underworld, etc are in the Sahara rather than outdoor/Mojave.
I don’t think it’s hard to avoid when metro can go anywhere from outdoor day to main day to outdoor night to Sahara night.
Only way I see Chems or Gorillaz getting over an hour is if they get the Mojave.
Bad Bunny’s set at Made in America was 90 mins who I think would be a little more pressed for time. but his stadium shows are over 2 hours some even 3. His shows have been 90 when he’s come on late (Boston)
Ok yeah, setlist.fm has Bad Bunny's average set length at 2:40. The two youtube videos I checked out were LIES. That just throws the whole of our set times off; he needs at least 2:30 now IMO, and if we include 45 mins of setup before that provides cushion if he ends up playing 2:45. That makes it pretty tough to get Kaytranada to the main unless we move Burna Boy elsewhere, which I really don't see happening. And now I think there's a reasonably good chance of Chemical Bros in the Mojave and/or Gorillaz closing the Outdoor instead of playing before Bunny. It's really hard to avoid Chemical Bros, Gorillaz, and Bad Bunny conflicting with each other in some way and I think there's likely more Gorillaz/Chems overlap than Chems/Bunny.
2019 Saturday might end up being a good comp here. That was a weird day that had Aphex Twin (billed 5th) get an hour and a half, closing the Mojave at 10:35. Let's get wacky.
MAIN: 10:30-1:00 Bad Bunny 8:30-9:45 Gorillaz 7:15-8:05 Burna Boy
OUTDOOR: 12:00-1:00 Kaytranada 9:30-10:30 Metro Boomin 7:45-8:45 Blondie
For Kali’s sake I hope she is main cause the frank campers would love her
how well do you think Bjork will go over with Frank campers? seems like they would dig it, right?
Not sure. I enjoyed Bjork at FYF 2017 but it wasn’t like I saw droves of Frank fans leave that fest going “Frank was the best but that Bjork woman…wow”. And that’s my only knowledge of Bjork at a NA festival besides that Houston one for the music nerds and old Coachella. She seems like such an acquired taste. As a Bjork fan I would not like my first time hearing her be before my favorite artist on day 3 of a festival. You need nights listening to a burned copy of Homogenic you got off a MySpace group for indie music smoking strawberry trainwreck after your mom goes to asleep for the full effect. So I’ve heard.

How many acts are usually added later on? I know there are usually a handful of small names. But right now the poster has (I think) 16 fewer names overall than last year. Which makes it feel like there's a bit more room for longer sets, though this wouldn't apply as much to Main/Outdoor because those slots are always at a premium starting at sunset.

Bad Bunny seems to play pretty long shows, but I think he’ll cut it down a bit for Coachella. I think 2 hours is perfect for him.
I also think Chems are getting 1:15 minimum, and could see 1:30 like Aphex Twin. I’m pretty sure at their own shows they do 2 hours and for festivals always do 1:30.

I don’t think the Chemical Brothers have played for less than 90 minutes in nearly a decade, but maybe some of you would know better than myself. Would slot them in for that here.

to be fair, that FYF set probably wasn't the most accessible for a casual Bjork fan. I think the coachella set will be a bit more casual friendly.

Underworld in the Sahara would be so nice. Their last Sahara set looked amazing.
I know people miss the hip-hop, but it's so refreshing to see the electronic acts absolutely stacked with legends, higher quality contemporary favorites, and a who's who of the top names in house, techno, and tech house (though I'd personally prefer more of the newer school of I. JORDAN, HAAi, Nick León, Josey Rebelle, CCL, Batu, etc. occupying the latter spots).

They played around 1:15-1:20 at Portola.
I know their set times stated as such, but they actually played for almost an hour and 35 minutes (I have a full recording of that set).
Highly doubt that they would negotiate for anything less than 80 minutes since they haven't played less than that in the last 10 years, even for non-headlining festival sets. Even at Coachella 2011 they were scheduled to play 80 minutes before KOL screwed that up.

The Chemical Brothers are playing longer than 60 minutes. Their festival sets are usually around 90 minutes. If they do their encore they would be pushing 2 hours.

Not to be a dick, but mind double checking that recording? Because I remember it being under 1:20, and from what I can tell this is a full recording of the set, and it runs 1:10. Did they play an encore that I'm totally forgetting about and setlist.fm is missing? Or maybe there's a cut in the video that I didn't catch scrolling through?
I could see Metro closing a stage if he was on Saturday But I doubt he plays against Bad Bunny at all, there's some cross over there. Def think he ends before Bunny starts

this is literally the outdoor stage from Coachella 2022 so I’m going to guess it’s going on the outdoor . Maybe even around when disclosure was. Just after dark
Move Metro Boomin to the Sahara and put Pusha T somewhere else Overmono doesn't have to go into the Yuma but if so, Jamie Jones or Maceo Plex could go into the Mojave like The Blessed Madonna + Honey Dijon did
SATURDAY
Move Tale Of Us into the Mojave for their production Move Colyn into the Yuma Move Flo Milli into the Sahara Move Charli XCX onto the Coachella Stage Move The Kid Laroi to the Coachella Stage Move Chromeo onto the Outdoor Theatre Move $uicideboy$ to closing Sahara Swap Labrinth and Diljit Dosanjh Swap Sunset Rollercoaster and Snail Mail
SUNDAY
Definitely move 2manydjs to the Mojave Move Gordo into the Yuma Move Big Wild into the Sahara Move Romy into the Yuma Move Boris Brejcha into the Sahara Move Jackson Wang... somewhere else
Also, Kyle Watson, Colyn and Cassian commented on this post from the dude who books the Yuma which might confirm them for that stage.
So I took all your advice on Friday and Saturday and made all those changes, but Sunday I'm not sure I agree with. For one, Big Wild plays with a live band these days, and I have a hard time picturing this in the Sahara:
Made other changes to Sunday though, let me know what your thoughts are.

There’s just no way we get 2 rap Sahara acts during a Sunday R&B headliner. I know Migos and Eminem clashed by 5 mins but I still don’t see it happening here. Especially not with 2 acts.

You could argue that so many of the top acts are going to be vying for longer sets that they had to cut down a bit. If BB did 2 1/2 hours thats almost double Harry last year who did 80 mins. Thats one more act on a schedule. And they shortened sets overall last year anyway so we'll see how it plays out. Chems and Prydz should both get 90 mins. The subs should get 75. Bp probably does about 80 mins maybe 90 max and Frank prob has 90 mins at his disposal. We also dont know who is getting extended set up time or even like a semi silent slot and such.
