For Kali’s sake I hope she is main cause the frank campers would love her
how well do you think Bjork will go over with Frank campers? seems like they would dig it, right?
I do worry that the Frank campers will make it tough for those who want to see Bjork. I wonder if there’s a chance Bjork closes the outdoor and Kali Uchis opens directly for Frank Ocean? I know that’s not what Kali said but maybe she doesn’t know?
I too hate this but I also don't see any reason why this couldn't happen. Maybe if we keep it as is we'll will it to be wrong by sheer nature of the fact that we're generally off with a lot of our predictions.
Friday 1. don't think Overmono and Chems will conflict, plus Overmono isn't really billed to play that late. Tokimonsta was billed there last year and played in the mid afternoon. I don't know BENEE enough to say if that's a good swap, but that's the time range I'd have them in. 2. Yves was headliner cannon fodder last name (unfortunately) -- I don't think they'll put him in that spot again. The Garden is also billed much higher than we have them right now. I'd shuffle the late night Mojave accordingly, probably to move Yves earlier and get The Garden either later (would be decent Bad Bunny counterprogramming) or earlier on the Outdoor. 3. I think FKJ is in the wrong spot for his billing. I could see him against the Chems, but he also probably needs to be bumped to after dark or a bigger stage.
Saturday 1. I'm less convinced that Tale of Us won't play Yuma, but I definitely don't think they'll play Gobi. 2. I think Jan Blomqvist is out of the Yuma. Last time he played Reddit was devastated that his live band wasn't booked, and they booked a ton of this "playa tech with live instrumentation" stuff this year. 3. It doesn't have to be Jan, but this day has a ton of live dance music. Think one of those acts will play against Blackpink (maybe Mura Masa hits this niche enough, but throwing it out there) 4. I'm not sure what the best slot is, but I do think they're going to try and route people to The Breeders a bit more than we have here. They had a pretty nice path to Spiritualized last year before Arcade Fire got added at the last minute. At the very least, can't see a Snail Mail conflict. 5. I agree that Saturday night will be the busiest in the last hour, but two second-liners and a Return to the Desert headliner all directly conflicting at midnight is too much. We need to spread these acts out throughout the evening; 9pm is much more likely to be conflict hell than midnight.
Sunday 1. Porter/2manydjs is possible but feels unlikely. Even more so with a Christine/Jai Paul direct conflict. 2. I would do a straight swap of Noname and Sudan Archives. 3. I think Boris Brejcha is way more likely to be in the Yuma than Romy. He's billed around where Yuma headliners have been in the past and makes sense as counterprogramming for Bjork, or even Frank. 4. Mikey I know you know LP Giobbi, so you may know something we don't, but is she not a Yuma act? 5. I think The Blaze is this year's Fred again../Soulwax electronic act that blows up on Reddit. (for my money, a much worse act, but neither here nor there). I'd put them in Mojave around dusk/just after dark.

I'd personally be OK with this but since she's the first proper subheadliner on a poster (bolded larger font) in years I can't see her playing anything but main.
i've been one of the few people on this board that actually want coachella to book dual headliners and this seems like a first step in that direction. in the case of Bjork and Gorillaz it makes some sense to have them headline Outdoor (sorta main stage 2) but then Rosalia doesn't really fit in the same way since she makes more sense on main leading into BLACKPINK. although, if Calvin Harris really does play after BP, maybe Rosalia closing the outdoor could work.

Frank fans aren't like the Beyhive. I don't think they would be disrespectful during other sets and I genuinely think most Frank fans would vibe with Bjork

Rosalia better play 3rd to last on the main otherwise I’m likely going to be making a very tough decision this night.

I think this marks the 1000th time Flog Naw has been mentioned wrt Frank fans

I personally love Bjork but I totally get that she's not for everyone. that's my only concern with her not closing a stage. to me, Bjork's music seems like it would be a good fit for Frank fans, but I just don't know and we must protect Bjork at all costs lol

Friday:
- I agree with basically everything. Most of those were oversights that I missed when making the changes TME suggested. I changed everything you suggested.
Saturday:
- Tale of Us should have been in the Mojave, not Gobi, that's my bad.
- Not so sure about Jan, as I've seen them booked quite a bit recently without the full band set up, and I think they usually bill it as a band if they play as such, so I think leaving them in the Yuma for now until we hear something different makes sense.
- Now that things have moved a little bit, thoughts on where we now have The Breeders?
- Not sure the best way to spread things out Friday night more than we currently have, though I'm open to suggestions.
Sunday:
- Sunday is tough. Do you think it makes more sense for 2manydjs to go against Jai, Bjork, or Frank Ocean? I don't see where we could have them play that doesn't have them conflicting of having a decent amount of overlap with at least one of those acts.
- Swapped Noname and Sudan
- I think Boris could end up either Sahara or Yuma. He's billed pretty high for the Yuma, and I think a set like this could just as easily go in the Sahara:
- LP Giobbi tends to play with hand keyboard visuals when she can. That isn't to say she CAN'T be in the Yuma without those visuals, as she also plays smaller club shows from time to time...but I think that + how full the Yuma already is on this days means she could easily be in the Sahara as well. I'm going to text her in a bit and see if she knows her slot.
- Been sort of struggling to figure out where to put The Blaze as well. We know they have to be after sunset, and I think conflicting with Fisher + Chris Lake makes more sense than vs Bjork or Frank...but if I'm alone here, we can figure out somewhere else to move The Blaze.

Prydz could play the Sahara during Blackpink and finish roughly when Calvin starts. Lots of precedent for the Sahara being quiet during the last MainStage act. If the production wouldn’t work on Sahara for some reason then idk. In 2019 Nina Kraviz closed the Mojave and finished about when Gambino started, so that’s an option.
I said this before but the way to solve Calvin/BLACKPINK/Prydz is to look at Saturday 2019. We were so sure that Aphex would close a stage against Tame Impala to account for length of set + set-up time and GV scheduled the day perfectly.
It absolutely *won't* go exactly like this, but if it did, you could have Charli --> Rosalia --> BLACKPINK on the main, Calvin outdoor to allow that party to start the second BLACKPINK ends, Kid Laroi closing Sahara, suicideboys in Billie's spot, Labrinth sunset outdoor, Underworld in Wiz Khalifa's spot but pushed back 30 minutes because Kid Laroi won't need an hour, Prydz in the Mojave mirroring Aphex - 90 minutes and shutting down that tent.
So, electronic heads can go Prydz --> Underworld --> Calvin, spectacle chasers can go Prydz --> BLACKPINK --> Calvin, etc, Gen Z can get Labrinth --> Rosalia --> BLACKPINK --> Kid Laroi, etc.
Like I said, they obviously won't repeat these slots directly and part of this weird scheduling was because Solange dropped, but there are ways to do this day to avoid a major conflict between fanbases of the headliner and second line acts.
I don’t see 2manyDJs in the Yuma but if they are I can def see them closing against Frank
I been thinking more since my 2manyDJs close Sahara comments, and I agree they don't play the Yuma. What if they close the Mojave against Frank?
I'm definitely engaging in wishful thinking here because I don't want them to conflict with Björk or Jai Paul, but I think 2manydjs vs Frank (whatever tent/stage they're on) makes a lot of sense. I feel strongly there's going to be a big dance party offering for people who don't want to end the weekend with Frank, and 2manydjs best fits the bill, especially if we're going silent Sahara.
EDIT: just looked at the clashfinder, the current Sunday configuration also makes sense to me and I think that would work if we're confident Rae Sremmurd vs Frank Ocean is more likely than quiet Sahara.

It’s crazy how long it’s been since a DJ closed the main stage that wasn’t a headliner. I was trying to go back to see how they did it but it’s so far back it’s hard to use as data. Even if I use headliners they are both on Sunday which has a different set of rules with set times.

Yeah but Bjork isn't a Frank replacement, she is a sub. Frank campers were super into Clairo, FKA twigs, BROCKHAMPTON, and YG. They weren't happy with Drake because they thought it would be Frank. Trash behavior to boo regardless, but they won't treat Bjork that way.

I'm good with pretty much everything you've done here. Waiting to hear on Jan makes a lot of sense, I just think Coachella has been more responsive to attendee wants in the past couple of lineups (I mean, they booked Chems lol), and Jan in the Yuma was one that broke some hearts.
It would be horrible for me personally (I want to see almost everything we have mocked for that hour right now lol) but I think The Breeders spot looks good. I think they might play a smidge earlier but those are the kind of conflicts they'll have -- they will make it easy for guitar fans to get to their set.
I do think that 2manydjs where we have them now is basically exactly how it's going to go down -- deep sunset/dusk, in the Mojave, right between Jai Paul and Bjork.
